Conventional Machinist

The Opportunity

The machinist operates various conventional machine tools to manufacture and repair different mechanical assemblies.

Main Responsibilities

• Record all necessary coordinates and/or drawings for manufacturing or repair, including dimensions and schematics;
• Use the correct measurement tools and techniques to ensure precise measurement (to the thousandth);
• Machine parts according to customer specifications and plans;
• Operate various machine tools such as: conventional lathe, milling machine, and column drill press;
• Know and understand the different applications and required materials;
• Perform grinding and boring operations;
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by your immediate supervisor.
• The Candidate

Education

• Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in machining technology (asset);

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years in a conventional machining workshop;
• Knowledge:

Knowledge in repair and fabrication of various components; Knowledge in reading plans; Very good knowledge of conventional machining (lathe, milling machine, boring machine). Experience on boring (asset).
