The successful candidate for this position will need to interact with clients and third parties who only understand and communicate in English. This position also requires the candidate to be able to easily communicate with colleagues from our offices across Canada, where English is the primary language.
We are seeking a bilingual junior paralegal to join our team at our Montreal or Quebec office. The candidate must have at least two years of experience in corporate law. Employees at McCarthy Tétrault benefit from a hybrid work environment. As a bilingual junior paralegal, your tasks will include:
- Preparing and drafting certain or all of the following documents. Perform this work under supervision using the service's checklists, as needed.
- + Incorporations and organizations of corporate entities
- + Formations and organizations of partnerships
+ Common corporate changes, such as changes in directors, officers, headquarters, and fiscal year-end + Dividend declaration documentation + Common changes to articles of incorporation, such as changes in legal name, number of directors, province or territory where the headquarters is located + Simplified mergers and extensions (simple)
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be required, such as certain or all of the following:
+ Request and interpret corporate research, then examine and summarize the collected information.
+ Perform basic ledger reviews, under supervision and according to received directives.
+ Maintain the compliance of assigned companies and coordinate with the relevant teams to keep corporate and public records up-to-date.
+ Pursue continuing education in corporate law.
+ Maintain and update databases.
+ Participate in the preparation or filing of other documents
- Stay up-to-date on changes to laws and government policies, and inform others as needed.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of the work, and ensure that the work is completed within reasonable deadlines.
- Perform any other related tasks.
- The ideal candidate will stand out with the following profile:
- Diploma in Legal Studies
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in corporate law
- Bilingualism (French and English)
