We are looking for engineers to fill two permanent positions in the Operational Support Section of the Technical Support Division of the Public Works Department. THE CHALLENGES As an engineer in the Operational Support Section, you will act as a resource person to support the various activities of the Public Works Department. These activities mainly consist of maintaining the assets of the sewer, water supply, and road networks, implementing maintenance programs, supporting the organization of operations, carrying out various projects, and planning emergency operations on a daily basis. You will also play an advisory role in your area of expertise. More specifically, you will have to: * Coordinate and provide logistical support for activities and projects requiring the intervention of public works in the influence zone of the tramway (ZIT) and in the central sectors; * Identify potential issues and formulate recommendations for improving the way things are done, both technically and logistically; * Play an influential role in the implementation of the chosen solutions, ensuring the commitment of all stakeholders; * Ensure effective coordination of activities within the service, especially between planning teams and operational teams; * Monitor the use of material resources, such as bulk materials, sewer and water supply pipes, and track the associated procurement contracts; * Conduct in-depth research and analysis on innovative technologies and practices applicable to the maintenance of public works; * Ensure compliance of processes and practices with current laws, regulations, and standards; * Implement the policies, procedures, and agreements governing public works operations at the city level; * Represent the Public Works Department to various organizations and discussion tables, both internally and externally, when required. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR To join our team, you will need to: * Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline, and have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience for the position; * Be a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ); * Have good knowledge of the methods and techniques associated with the construction, repair, and maintenance of water supply, sewer, and road networks; * Demonstrate good knowledge of the various Quebec regulations (e.g., quality of drinking water, Volume V of the MTMD construction standards, etc.); * Show excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as a strong ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and exercise influential leadership; * Demonstrate the ability to analyze and solve complex issues requiring a combination of technical and relational skills; * Show a strong interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and the optimization of operational practices; * Possess the personal qualities required to succeed in the role, including a good analytical and synthetic mindset, a customer-service-oriented approach, excellent organizational and planning skills, great adaptability and flexibility, and a high degree of autonomy; * Be proficient in the use of technologies and computer tools, and master the Microsoft 365 suite software, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Power BI; * Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license and be able to use a personal vehicle for work purposes.
