We are looking for a housekeeping supervisor to oversee the operational management of the housekeeping department and ensure the smooth running of the guest experience. Reporting to the assistant director of housekeeping, the supervisor must provide exceptional personalized service. Working on variable hours, the supervisor ensures a memorable experience for our guests through sound personnel management and the ability to motivate and provide the necessary support to their teams, as well as ensuring effective intra and interdepartmental communication.

The position is part-time, at a rate of 30 to 40 hours per week. The person must also be available to work evenings and weekends, as needed. Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in personnel management within the departments: Welcome and integrate new associates, ensure adequate training of associates, distribute work; develop schedules; evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff; conduct necessary disciplinary follow-ups, if needed; motivate staff; apply the collective agreement, etc.
  • Control the material resources of the service (management of inventories, equipment and housekeeping supplies);
  • Ensure the general cleanliness of the establishment by conducting inspection rounds;
  • Perform room inspections;
  • Ensure compliance with departmental standards;
  • Manage guest complaints, if necessary;
  • Enter housekeeping orders into Birchstreet;
  • Ensure follow-ups related to health and safety at work;
  • Work closely with other hotel services;
  • Apply and enforce service and hotel policies and standards;

All other related tasks.

Requirements

The person sought must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in administration within the housekeeping department or in a similar position in a 4-star hotel. Any equivalent training or experience will be considered. This person must also possess:

  • A diploma in hospitality or tourism studies;
  • Perfectly bilingual (French and English, both oral and written);
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities (having a strong team spirit);
  • Demonstrate autonomy and initiative;
  • Leadership and decision-making capacity;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations;
  • Ability to create trust quickly and consequently provide outstanding customer service;
  • Be proactive and go beyond the expectations of our guests;
  • Be meticulous and pay particular attention to details;
  • Excellent organizational and priority management skills (ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously);
  • Excellent stress management;
  • Ability to work on variable hours;
  • Possess very good knowledge of computer systems and hotel software (Microsoft, Birchstreet, Synergie and Opéra).
