Superintendent, Steel

As a Superintendent, Steel, you will assume an operational and tactical management role. You will be responsible for supervising the Steel Superintendents, managing the production activities of the steel trades, and coordinating interdepartmental activities. You will ensure the safety of all, the quality of the work, and the efficiency of production. Specifically, you will:

• Apply and enforce SSE policies in collaboration with the relevant departments.
• Conduct floor tours and internal audits to ensure compliance with SSE standards.
• Respond to SSE incidents and ensure rapid collection of facts for transmission to the relevant departments.
• Educate on steel trade-related risk prevention and ensure compliance with locking procedures.
• Lead daily meetings according to the DMS (Daily Management System).
• Set and track quality objectives in conjunction with steel work. Supervise the application of quality standards and ensure rigorous tracking of work.
• Analyze key performance indicators and propose improvements to reduce rework.
• Ensure compliance of work with client and CWB and/or Lloyd’s standards.
• Plan weekly steel trade operations based on production priorities.
• Optimize the use of human and material resources.
• Manage and track daily production reports.
• Identify production discrepancies and propose solutions to meet deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with budgets allocated to steel trade activities. Participate in budget estimation.
• Supervise and mentor Steel Superintendents in the management of their teams.
• Ensure that each superintendent receives a tailored development plan. Participate in the evaluation of the performance of steel trade employees.
• Manage disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Human Resources and SST departments.
• Contribute to the production and continuous improvement strategy.
• Participate in production and management meetings to ensure alignment of objectives.
• Propose improvements in procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure the application of new technologies and best practices in the steel trades.
• Collaborate with other Superintendent, Steel and managers to ensure smooth production.
• Participate in the improvement of interdepartmental production and communication processes.
• Perform any other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a specialized trade (welding-assembly, boiler-making, metal structure fabrication).
• Work experience in the industrial sector.
• Minimum of five (5) years in supervisory personnel management.
• Functional knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Successful completion of the contract security program attestation process.
