Job Description for Dispatcher (Dispatch).
A general transportation company is looking for a motivated dispatcher with experience to handle call distribution and management for a fleet of 14 trucks/drivers (20-foot, 26-foot, or 28-foot cube).
The candidate must be able to:
- Distribute calls to drivers according to routes and delivery deadlines required by clients, as well as the specific restrictions and capabilities of the truck or driver.
- Excellent customer service: Ability to communicate with clients and inform them of the status or changes to their deliveries.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery information provided by the client (addresses, number of pallets, weight, and dimensions...) to establish an effective delivery schedule.
- Validate the price of a submission for clients according to a pre-established pricing grid.
- Stay in contact with drivers throughout the day.
- Manage emergencies: Handle roadside emergencies (mechanical breakdowns, weather, accidents, traffic congestion) and redirect drivers if necessary.
- Track and provide delivery documents and reports for billing.
- Other tasks as needed.
- Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Excellent knowledge of Montreal and its surroundings.
- Computer skills, comfortable with computers (we use a TMS system).
- At least 1 year of verifiable driving experience as a driver/delivery person and a minimum of two years of experience as a dispatcher.
- High school diploma, or college diploma (not required but an asset).
- Functional/basic English to communicate with clients in Ontario.
- Possible criminal record check.
- Responsible and organized with a good professional attitude.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Excellent management, pressure, and stress capacity.
- Autonomous and versatile.
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Between 45 and 50 hours per week.
- Day shift, Monday to Friday.
- Start of the day around 6 am (either 5:30 am or 6:30 am).
- Salary: between $25.00 and $28.00/hour according to experience and performance at work.
- Truck departures on the South Shore of Montreal, parking available for employees. The dispatcher position is mostly done remotely.
- Our trucks are well-maintained, with equipment provided for secure delivery (tailgate, electric jigger).
Collective insurance program available after 3 months of continuous work. Excellent work environment. Training program available.
