Profile: Systems Administrator
The Commission des services électriques de Montréal (CSEM) is a municipal organization that designs, builds, maintains, and administers the city of Montreal's underground electrical and telecommunications conduit network and promotes the burial of aerial cables and wires.

Analyze, optimize, and validate processes, business needs, risks, impacts, and stakeholders in a business area or organization in relation to technology needs and recommend improvements to computer systems and/or processes for optimal performance. Provide first and second-line technical support to system clients. Write functional specifications and user manuals, etc.
Inherent responsibilities of the position include:
- Maintain and optimize the IT infrastructure (servers, networks, virtualization)
- Design and manage LAN/WAN networks, VPNs, firewalls, routing, and switching
- Administer Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
- Manage cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, or equivalent)
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability
- Implement best practices in cybersecurity and data protection systems
- Support automation initiatives (PowerShell)
- Collaborate with internal teams to address technical challenges, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system and network administration in an environment with more than 100 hosted Windows/Linux servers
- Knowledge of instrumentation and Control (asset)
Knowledge and Skills
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN, firewall, and network architectures
- Experience in virtualization (VMware, Hyper V)
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles
- Experience with backup technologies and ability to develop a disaster recovery plan
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a production environment
- Experience with DevOps/automation tools (Chef, AWS Systems Manager, Azure)
- Experience in server administration within Azure/AWS
- Good knowledge of networks and firewalls/WAF (Fortinet, FortiWeb)
- SharePoint administration (asset)
- Experience with Intune, Auto-pilot, and deployment packages
- Knowledge of PowerShell
- Good oral and written communication skills in French and English
