Under the supervision of the Director of Temporary Works and Methods, the incumbent is responsible, for a given project, for the interventions of the department's resources, and this throughout the proposal and execution phases of the projects. He directs and coordinates the resources assigned to the project. He manages the development of construction methods, plans and designs temporary works, supervises the production of models and plans and ensures the conformity of the works of the temporary works during their installation at the construction site. He provides technical support throughout the proposal and execution phases of the project.
What you will do
- Work closely with Team Leaders and other Temporary Works and Methods Managers to coordinate resources in order to effectively carry out the mandates.
- Be responsible for the control of the group's work, the quality of the documents produced and the respect of the production schedule of the deliverables
- During the proposal phase, supervise and guide the preparation of general methods and work sequences, equipment needs as well as the preliminary design of temporary works
- During the proposal or start of a project, participate, with the Temporary Works and Methods Director and the construction team, in the definition of the main mandates that will be directly ensured by the department and the mandates that will be subcontracted (if applicable), and define a production schedule of the deliverables
- Define, in collaboration with the construction team, the general methods that will be deployed on the site
- Coordinate and ensure the production of various documents including site installation plans, lifting plans and other project-specific plans
- Coordinate and ensure the production of phasing plans: cycles of use of temporary works, general work phasing
- Find the best options for the realization of temporary works, in adequacy with the planning and the general methods envisaged, and anticipate the problems of the site
- Design temporary works (special formwork, pile driving template, platforms, temporary bridges and bridges, steel structures, temporary supports, etc.) and support the engineers involved in the design
- Coordinate and ensure the production of models and manufacturing plans of temporary works
- Manage the internal and external verification process of the engineering documents produced for the project
- Validate and finalize the design plans of temporary works produced for the site
- Sign and seal the plans of temporary works
- Provide technical support to the construction team for the installation and respect of the methods
- Certify the conformity of specific temporary works
- Be a relevant and credible technical resource for the stakeholders
- This position is for you if you have
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering
- Relevant work experience of 8 to 15 years in civil engineering works and design of works
- Experience in team management
- A valid professional engineer's license from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
- Very good mastery of the AdvanceDesign software or another finite element analysis software
- Very good mastery of the Autocad software
- Mastery of Revit and/or Civil 3D is an asset
