We are looking for an AIT EGSE Software Manager to join our team at our Montreal office.

Role: AIT Software Manager

The AIT EGSE Software Manager manages the development and integration of test software for the electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) used during the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) phases of various space programs.

He or she is responsible for the software developers distributed across the unit, payload, and satellite test development teams.

He or she ensures the delivery and quality of the test software required by the programs.

A broader objective of this position is to support the growth of the company by undertaking tasks that may not have a direct impact on program management (for example, interacting with senior management and executives on operational issues identified in the program).

Tasks:

AIT Manager – Common Core

  • Acts as an ambassador for his or her unit and, as such, actively communicates with internal stakeholders to plan and execute development or manufacturing activities on integration lines.
  • Reviews requests from program management, product development, and line management services. Then, applies and organizes the necessary resources to manage the AIT (assembly, integration, and test) portion of the stations as a whole.
  • Must be able to provide feedback to program AIT managers with whom he or she will work closely and who have direct contact with the external client, whether it is in terms of products, resources, workload, funding, or methods.
  • Prepares detailed schedules to track the daily progress of projects, conducts frequent and regular cost-to-date and estimate-to-completion evaluations, and develops alternative plans if necessary to meet cost and schedule objectives.
  • Identifies key issues and improvement opportunities within his or her unit and proposes solutions.
  • Participates in product launch and design meetings and ensures that manufacturing line specifications are met. In other words, the manager must ensure that the proposed designs are compatible with current equipment as much as possible.
  • Acts as a consultant, providing technical advice and guidance.
  • Must be able to make decisions and, if necessary, take a stand based on credible data, in the best interest of the company.
  • Ensures visibility of AIT at the executive level through regular meetings to review technical, management, and project progress aspects.

Specific to EGSE Software

  • Prepares detailed software development planning and conducts daily and weekly progress tracking.
  • Participates and contributes to the development of the test strategy in collaboration with systems (V&V), software design, hardware, RF, and test teams to provide feedback on specifications and validations.
  • Collaborates in the development of the data collection strategy and ensures the acquisition of necessary analysis tools for the programs.
  • Manages department and project expenses.
  • Identifies project risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborates with software teams from other departments.

Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering.
  • 7 years of experience in program management or project engineering.
  • Experience in embedded systems development (software, FPGA, hardware), RF systems, signal processing (an asset).
  • Experience in automated test infrastructure development and Python (an asset).
  • Experience in negotiations, risk management, contract management, subcontracting contract management, finance, and U.S. ITAR regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in both French and English required (contact with clients and headquarters staff in Ontario).
  • Special Considerations:

Selected candidates must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the reliability rating level and pass the security evaluation for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
