Medical Translator – French to English (Contract) - FR

You will need to translate medical and insurance communications accurately from French to English, both orally and in writing, while preserving the context, clinical accuracy, and meaning.

You will leverage your in-depth knowledge, skills, and best practices in your assignments with precision and excellence.

*Please note that this is a 12-month contract.* *This role is open to candidates from Quebec and Ontario.*

Responsibilities

• Translate medical and insurance documents from French to English for evaluators, Regulatory Services, Personal Insurance, and the clinical team, ensuring their accuracy and compliance with clinical terminology standards.
• Ensure the quality of translations by performing selective review checks and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Adhere to inter-service quality agreements and tight execution deadlines while maintaining unyielding quality standards.
• Research, document, and communicate necessary medical terminology to develop a comprehensive glossary for the team and ensure uniformity in translations for all indemnity requests.
• Demonstrate integrity and strictly follow RBC Insurance's procedures for the protection of personal information and confidentiality when handling sensitive client information.
• Optimize the use of internal terminology databases, reference documents, and IT tools to enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to update translation procedures and identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Enhance the experience of partners and clients through effective communication and strong working relationships.
• Key Success Factors

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in translation or linguistics, or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
• At least two years of professional experience in medical translation or the insurance field, with a supporting work history.
• Bilingualism (French and English), to serve French and English-speaking colleagues and partners across Canada.
• Proficiency in both French and English, both written and oral.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies and terminology issues.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team and provide exceptional customer experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

• Experience with translation management systems or medical terminology databases
• Knowledge of claim evaluation processes or insurance terminology
• Knowledge of disability benefit claims, rehabilitation terminology, or workers' compensation processes

Salary Scale

The salary scale for this position is: $55,000.00 - $90,000.00
