SUMMARY

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for analyzing design projects and defining requirements for our cutting-edge products in the fields of robotics and automation. He/she will participate in the development and creation of innovative mechanical solutions. He/she is responsible for designing mechanical components, ensuring the technical feasibility of projects, and collaborating closely with development, engineering, and production teams to ensure product quality and efficiency. In the course of his/her duties, he/she will be called upon to design complex and varied industrial equipment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop mechanical components for robotic systems and automation solutions;
  • Contribute to the development, design, and testing of various mechanical systems for robotic systems and automation solutions;
  • Conduct studies, analyses, and calculations to guide technical designers and project managers in their work using general and specific technical parameters;
  • Participate in the establishment of performance criteria, develop validation plans for each system, and ensure their execution;
  • Use 3D modeling software to create virtual prototypes and design simulations;
  • Perform technical feasibility and mechanical performance impact analyses;
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to validate designs and conduct tests;
  • Collaborate with suppliers throughout the product development process;
  • Work closely with electronic, software, and production teams to ensure smooth integration of mechanical components;
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and potential solutions;
  • Identify and implement opportunities for optimizing existing mechanical designs;
  • Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in mechanical design;
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, tests, and results;
  • Monitor changes and evolutions throughout the product lifecycle;
  • Ensure that designs comply with the company's quality and safety standards and applicable regulations.
  • REQUIRED PROFILE
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;

3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design, preferably in the fields of robotics or automation;

Membership in the OIQ (asset)

DESIRED PROFILE AND SKILLS

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.;
  • Understanding of the fundamental principles of automation and control of mechanical systems, including the integration of sensors and actuators;
  • Competence in dimensional and geometric tolerance analysis to ensure precise assembly of components;
  • Ability to effectively manage mechanical design projects, adhering to schedules and allocated budgets;
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts both orally and in writing, including the creation of detailed design reports;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods such as machining, sheet metal, laser cutting, 3D printing, etc.
