POSITION MISSION

Under the responsibility of the administration manager, the senior project accountant ensures rigorous financial tracking of the company's construction projects. He or she plays a central role in project cost management, client billing, and the production of financial reports for project managers and the executive team. He or she works closely with field teams, project managers, and various internal departments to ensure reliable and up-to-date financial information.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Accounting
  • Importing budgets and creating budgetary positions;
  • Ensuring complete management of the contract termination process, including the preparation of notices to owners and compliance with prescribed legal deadlines;
  • Tracking actual project costs and comparing them to approved budgets;
  • Analyzing budgetary discrepancies and producing financial progress reports for project managers;
  • Processing subcontractor invoices and validating their compliance with contracts.
  • Billing and Contract Management
  • Importing and creating billing statements;
  • Preparing and issuing progress invoices to clients according to contractual terms;
  • Tracking invoice approvals and client payments;
  • Managing change requests and contractual amendments;
  • Ensuring financial file compliance with contractual and legal requirements;
  • Releasing contractual withholdings.
  • Project Accounts Payable and Receivable Management
  • Coordinating the processing of vendor and subcontractor invoices related to projects;
  • Performing reconciliations between purchase orders, work receipts, and invoices;
  • Tracking project accounts receivable and guarantee withholdings;
  • Preparing disbursements accompanied by receipts.
  • Reports and Project Closure
  • Participating in the financial closure of projects and analyzing final results;
  • Documenting financial lessons learned for future estimation;
  • Contributing to the company's month-end and year-end processes;
  • Preparing CNESST and CCQ compliance letters;
  • Ensuring the closure of commitments and project closure.
  • Collaboration and Support
  • Working closely with project managers to ensure proactive financial tracking;
  • Supporting the finance department in internal and external audit activities;
  • Answering questions from internal and external stakeholders regarding project financial status;
  • Performing all other related tasks.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

Hybrid position with a minimum of 4 days per week in the office. The integration and training period will be full-time in the office.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • DEC in accounting sciences or BAC in accounting (an asset);
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in project accounting in the construction sector;
  • Knowledge of project accounting principles and the method of work progress;
  • Knowledge of Maestro software (essential);
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and Adobe PDF;
  • Knowledge of legal aspects specific to construction in Quebec (an asset: CCQ, guarantee withholdings, and contract termination).
