Electrician

Main Role

The main and regular role consists of performing installation, repair, replacement, modification, and maintenance work on electrical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Identifies and locates defects to be corrected. Takes appropriate readings, performs tests. Reads and interprets plans and estimates, makes diagrams, drawings, or sketches of modifications to be made.
• Installs, verifies, maintains, repairs, and modifies any conduction system composed of piping devices, accessories, and other electrical equipment for lighting, heating, power, communication, transmission, detection, etc.
• Installs, verifies, replaces, and maintains various electrical devices such as batteries, transformers, distribution panels, chargers, capacitors, circuit breakers, air conditioners, automatic washers, dryers, switches.
• Drills openings in walls and floors or any other surface.
• Communicates with concerned parties, visits sites, and provides an evaluation of the work to be done. Ensures the procurement of materials.
• Handles, transports, adjusts, and uses appropriate machinery, tools, equipment, and materials, ensures their maintenance, and keeps the work areas clean.
• Completes various forms and writes reports related to their work.

Required Qualifications

Education: D.E.P. in an appropriate field of specialization.

Experience: As required for obtaining the qualification certificate or competency card, with two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of industrial or commercial buildings or facilities.

Other: Valid and recognized qualification certificate or competency card.

For office software, practical knowledge of a recognized software within each office suite will be considered sufficient.

For regular and temporary employees who do not meet the normal job requirements, the following compensation can be made:

• Each missing year of relevant education can be compensated by two (2) years of relevant experience gained at Université Laval or another employer;
• Each missing year of relevant education can be compensated by one (1) year of education at the same or higher level in the same field of study as required;
• Each missing year of relevant experience can be compensated by one (1) year of additional relevant education to the minimum education required for the position in the same field of study as required.
