The Consumer Assistance Service (CAS) is a community organization dedicated to protecting the rights of consumers.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent of this position performs the following tasks:

The person in this position accompanies citizens in exercising their consumer rights and in their procedures for accessing government programs and services. They act as a specialized resource to support their autonomy and understanding of available remedies and services.

Support

  • Respond to consumer inquiries from the Mauricie region;
  • Analyze the consumer's issue and guide them through their procedures;
  • Inform citizens about programs, benefits, or assistance measures offered by provincial and federal governments (e.g., financial aid, social programs);
  • Assist users in preparing forms, applications, supporting documents, and administrative follow-ups;
  • Support the consumer in writing documents;
  • Ensure compliance with the ethical and legal framework as a community intervenor;
  • Act to avoid being in a situation of conflict of interest.

Social Assistance and Intervention

  • Assess individual needs and provide active, empathetic, and respectful listening;
  • Adapt interventions according to the realities of individuals: socio-economic vulnerability, disability, precariousness, psychological or administrative barriers;
  • Work in interdisciplinary collaboration with community and government partners.

Public Education

  • Promote consumer rights defense;
  • Prepare and conduct workshops on consumption for various groups;
  • Participate in the realization of projects or special events.

Other

  • Perform any other tasks requested by the immediate supervisor;
  • Stay informed about information related to our mission;
  • Be alert to abuses and frauds in the Mauricie region;
  • Be aware of changes and new laws and regulations;
  • Act to avoid being in a situation of conflict of interest.

Required Qualifications

  • Possess a relevant education (technician or legal secretary, social work, specialized education) or any other education combined with relevant experience;
  • Ideally, have at least one year of experience in a similar position;
  • Possess computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, Windows).
