Systems Administrator
AdministrationDescription
Company Description
Techo-Bloc manufactures landscape products that transform ordinary outdoor spaces into places people are proud of — high-end concrete pavers, retaining walls, and architectural masonry products found in residential courts as well as commercial plazas, and everywhere in between. We have 9 manufacturing plants, over 13 distribution centers, and over 900 employees spread across over 20 sites in Canada and the United States.
Such scale doesn't function on its own. Each manufacturing plant, distribution center, field representative, and office team relies on reliable and high-performance technology. That's exactly what our IT team implements on a daily basis — and that's why the people who lead it play such an essential role.
WHY WE NEED YOU
Our infrastructure is constantly evolving. Servers, networks, storage, and the monitoring systems that support them require someone who considers "keeping operations running" to be the minimum expected, not the final goal.
We are looking for someone who ensures the stability of the current environment, identifies potential issues before they occur, and contributes to evolving our infrastructure in collaboration with the entire IT team.
You will be involved in daily operations — configuration, testing, monitoring, updates, and troubleshooting — while keeping a global view of the infrastructure roadmap developed by the IT team.
You will need to be as comfortable in a server room or in front of a network diagram as you are in writing technical documentation that allows other team members to resolve issues more efficiently in the future.
WHY YOU'LL (OR WON'T) LIKE WORKING HERE
You will enjoy this position if you want to have real responsibility for an infrastructure that supports multiple sites of a growing manufacturing company — and if you prefer to fix the root cause of a problem rather than just treating its symptoms.
This position might not suit you if you are looking for an environment where everything is already established and perfectly defined. We are a rapidly evolving manufacturing company: some processes are mature, while others are still being developed. You will therefore have the opportunity to contribute to building and improving our ways of doing things.
If you see ambiguity as an opportunity to create and have an impact, you will be at home with us.
Infrastructure Standards
- Ensure that the infrastructure and its operations remain compliant with the company's established policies, procedures, and standards.
Multi-Site Infrastructure Administration
- Participate in the installation and administration of the IT infrastructure at the company's various sites.
- Ensure the update of the infrastructure components: networks, servers, and storage systems.
- Manage server monitoring systems to identify issues before they result in service interruptions.
Troubleshooting
- Analyze reported issues, diagnose root causes, reproduce incidents, and assess their impact.
- Implement necessary corrective actions and ensure follow-up until complete resolution.
Data Protection and Business Continuity
- Manage data backup and archiving processes.
- Collaborate on the implementation, maintenance, and testing of the IT disaster recovery plan.
Projects, Documentation, and Support
- Actively participate in the implementation projects of new technologies and various IT initiatives.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation related to the infrastructure and new projects.
- Provide out-of-hours support on a rotating schedule with other team members.
- Occasionally travel (approximately 5% of the time) to our various sites located in Quebec, Ontario, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and North Carolina.
Qualifications
- WHO YOU ARE
You stay calm when problems occur — because they will. You are sufficiently organized to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining an overview, and rigorous enough to produce documentation that will actually be used.
You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical employees, and you know how to adapt your approach according to your interlocutor.
You are bilingual — truly comfortable in both French and English — which is essential in a company with manufacturing plants in Quebec and offices throughout North America.
You value the quality of work, not just the quick execution of tasks, since employees throughout the organization depend on your expertise, even if they never know your name.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
- 5 years or more of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT infrastructure role.
- Experience in a multi-site, ideally manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment — you understand the operational impacts when a system fails.
- Solid practical experience with virtualized servers (Linux and Windows), networks, and storage systems (installation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting).
- Excellent mastery of the Microsoft ecosystem:
- + Active Directory
- + Microsoft 365
- + Azure AD
- + Intune
- + SharePoint
- + Azure IaaS
- Experience with backup, archiving, and monitoring tools, as well as knowledge of disaster recovery strategies and their testing.
- Knowledge of ERP environments.
- Experience with an ITSM/ticketing platform — Jira is a plus.
- Experience in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, Docker).
- Proficiency in both French and English is required — our headquarters is located in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, and our team is spread throughout North America.
