The Distribution Center Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a high level of service by optimizing the efficiency of our operations and customer service while respecting distribution and stock maintenance budgets. The supervisor will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing, in a timely manner, the daily activities of a given sector (picking, receiving, shelving, shipping, returns, stock control, etc.) and implementing programs that meet the needs of all functions in that sector (productivity, accuracy, training, safety, security, and maintenance).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This is a permanent evening shift position (schedule: 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM)
The incumbent will, among other things, assume the following responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and control all warehouse activities related to one or more specific sectors in order to achieve or exceed the objectives of the distribution centers (DC). Maintain / exceed performance indicators (KPI: productivity, quality, stock level, service level, etc.) for the assigned area(s)...
- Maintain a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with government regulations...
- Responsible for the training of new employees and the continuous training of existing employees to ensure that quality and productivity goals are met or exceeded.
- Focus on customer needs and customer service while ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed.
- Identify, through a proactive approach, potential cost savings and efficiency gains in order to improve the overall operational parameters of the site.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of a high level of employee engagement in customer service. Act as a leader in change management and coach employees by encouraging continuous improvement and fostering an inclusive work environment.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with government regulations, while proactively identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
Essential expertise and skills
- Available to work evenings (1:30 PM to 10:00 PM);
- DEC or university degree in logistics, operations management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in distribution, including significant experience in inventory management.
- Experience in a unionized environment (strong asset or essential depending on the context).
- Experience and strong skills with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF units, ERP (SAP), and experience in implementing new processes;
- Must be able to work on different shifts and exceptionally on weekends
- Ability to adapt and lead in a constantly evolving environment and act as a leader in change management
- Ability to work under pressure to meet customer needs
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong skills in organization, planning, and cost control
- Strong influence and communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
- Experience in wholesale distribution and/or the automotive industry
