Summary of Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Clinical-Administrative Director – Surgical Activities and Specialized Services, the Program Director for Trauma, Organ Donation, and End-of-Life Care exercises leadership in a context of significant transformation and continuous improvement to promote excellence across the entire sector under their responsibility.

The incumbent manages the integrated programs of trauma, organ and tissue donation, and palliative care at the end of life (PCEOL), including medical assistance in dying (MAID) and anticipated requests for medical assistance in dying (ARMAID). They are responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of care pathways for the programs under their responsibility at the regional level, including trauma, palliative care, and organ and tissue donation. They ensure the coordination of regional activities, including the PCEOL desk and the interdisciplinary support group (ISG), particularly for complex clinical situations and inter-facility cases.

The incumbent oversees the trauma program, including the continuum of care for polytraumatized patients, early intervention services (TCC light/concussion), and the SAAQ program. They manage the organ and tissue donation program in collaboration with internal and external partners and ensure the optimization of referral and donation processes. They ensure the implementation and maintenance of safe and high-quality clinical practices, including the development of procedures, optimization of practices, and collaboration with clinical teams. They mentor, mobilize, and develop multidisciplinary teams under their responsibility and ensure effective collaboration with internal and external partners, users, and their families. They monitor performance and reporting (GESTRED, SAAQ, End-of-Life Care Commission, trauma, and other programs), as well as the coordination of local and regional committees and the harmonization of practices across the territory.

As a manager within a public institution, they are accountable for their management both internally and externally and are called upon to account for it at all times.

Every manager contributes, within their area of responsibility, to the integrated management of risks by identifying risky situations, implementing appropriate preventive or corrective measures, and ensuring the required follow-up to support the quality, safety, and continuous improvement of care and services.

Required Qualifications
