Responsibilities

This role will focus on the development and maintenance of AI agents, workflows, and pipelines that power member-facing features as well as internal company tools.

• Design, develop, and maintain AI agents and pipelines integrating language models (LLM) into member-facing features as well as internal tools
• Monitor the performance, costs, reliability, and quality of results of agents and pipelines in production, and set up the necessary tools to ensure their observability
• Integrate language model (LLM) APIs and third-party AI services into our Ruby on Rails environment and existing systems
• Evaluate and select the best-suited AI tools, models, and services, considering their capabilities, cost, and reliability
• Collaborate with various teams to identify opportunities where AI can enhance the member experience or optimize internal processes
• Diagnose issues and continuously improve the implemented solutions, in a field where models, tools, and best practices are rapidly evolving

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development
• Professional experience with Ruby on Rails (required)
• Experience in developing applications leveraging large language models (LLM) and AI APIs
• Experience in designing and integrating backend services and APIs
• Experience with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and AI agent frameworks
• Experience in AI system observability or monitoring (tracing, evaluations, logging, cost and latency tracking) is a plus
• Experience in evaluating and integrating third-party AI services and tools
• Rapid learning ability and excellent problem-solving skills
