Duration: Indefinite-term contract
Under the responsibility of the Finance and Administration Department, the Payroll Manager (Internal Accountant and Payroll Manager) oversees accounting operations and is responsible for the production, processing, and control of payroll. They also manage the vendor and client cycles, prepare monthly and annual financial statements, and contribute to financial closings. The position involves an approximate split of 50% in payroll management and 50% in accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the complete vendor cycle: data entry, analysis, reconciliations, national and international payments, and end-of-month entries;
- Ensures client cycle management: invoice preparation, accounts receivable tracking, donation accounting and collection, monthly reconciliations;
- Participates in monthly closings by preparing necessary entries, analyzing accounts, and performing adjustments;
- Produces end-of-month and end-of-year accounting entries, including adjustments related to projects and payroll;
- Makes required accounting adjustments at year-end to ensure the accuracy of financial information;
- Prepares and processes complete payroll for all employees, including adjustments, deductions, reimbursements, and end-of-year activities;
- Ensures the accuracy of payroll data, accounts the entries, and ensures the consistency of accounts between the payroll system and the financial system;
- Facilitates communication with Human Resources to receive and validate data required for payroll processing;
- Updates and reconciles salary tracking tables and payroll-related accounts, and validates the rate table;
- Produces tax reports (Summary 1, T4A, GST/QST) and ensures compliance with tax obligations;
- Collaborates on project audits and participates in annual financial audits;
*And, in general, performs any other related tasks deemed useful or necessary at the organization's request.*
Qualifications
- College or university degree in a relevant field (accounting, financial management, payroll), or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and experience;
- 4 to 6 years of relevant professional experience, including practical experience and a good knowledge of payroll processes in Quebec;
- Strong associative motivation, sense of international solidarity, commitment to the values and mission of ASF Canada;
- Strong teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary context, accountability, interpersonal intelligence;
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, diligence, and resourcefulness. Willingness to self-manage work and work according to a flexible schedule – sometimes under pressure;
- Proficiency in office computer tools, particularly accounting software and word processing, email, internet, and databases.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
Assets
- Experience in project accounting and multi-currency accounting;
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now software;
- Good communication skills in Spanish and/or English.

- Indefinite-term employment;
- Three or four weeks of annual vacation, depending on experience;
