Project Coordinator - Emergency Response
Due to continuous growth, we are looking for a project coordinator with some experience in environmental investigations and remediation to join our emergency response team at our Montreal or Brossard office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting fieldwork, including; groundwater/solid sampling, water level monitoring, investigation drilling, well installation monitoring, soil and groundwater remediation (excavation, in situ, etc.), contractor monitoring, air monitoring, river and stream rehabilitation, site restoration and construction inspections for both emergency spill response and long-term environmental investigation and remediation projects
- Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, including environmental investigation and closure reports, contingency/design/action plans, design project specifications, tender documents, regulatory submissions and emergency response plans
- Assisting project managers in preparing proposals, work plans, cost estimates, memorandums, letters, charts, figures, presentations, etc.
- Performing data compilation, interpretation and evaluation of environmental regulations for the preparation of engineering reports
- Assisting project managers in coordinating on-site activities, including coordinating field personnel, setting up the analysis laboratory project and purchasing subcontractors and equipment
- Assisting in the coordination of GHD's internal technical resources and support staff, including writers, database, chemists and other staff
- Review, understanding and interpretation of provincial and federal laws and regulations
- Travel to sites throughout Quebec and occasional travel throughout the rest of Canada and the United States.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Post-secondary diploma (Environmental Technologist or Hydraulic Resources, or Sciences)
- 0 to 2 years of experience in field environment, internship or full-time experience in the technical consulting field would be considered an asset
- Experience in conducting fieldwork is preferred and the willingness to travel to conduct fieldwork is required. Field demands may include extended work hours, working in adverse weather conditions and lifting heavy loads (an 80/20 field/office ratio is planned).
- Flexible availability to assist with emergency spill response work (including weekends and nights) for clients when necessary (Note: This group's emergency response services are team-based, the successful candidate will not be required to respond to every emergency event)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Plan and coordinate the resources needed for the work, in collaboration with the project team, including determining equipment needs and communicating requests to subcontractors.
- Collect, analyze and compile operational and financial data (quantities, costs, soil transport and disposal, imported fill), and produce accurate reports including daily reports, summary tables, graphs and photographic documentation.
- Experience in managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is considered an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (French and English) to effectively communicate technical information to multiple audiences, including subcontractors, field personnel, clients, colleagues, etc.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
- Motivated initiative with the ability to work effectively in both individual and team environments
- Fieldwork will require working long hours, working in adverse weather conditions and lifting up to 50 lb
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
