Under the supervision of the Laboratory Technical Testing Operations Manager, the technician or technician, tests and homologations contributes to the preparation, installation, and execution of tests on various construction products and systems.
The person in the position performs tasks such as assembling roof assemblies required for wind uplift tests according to CSA A123.21 standard, as well as for various internal tests. They take measurements, document observations, and participate in the analysis and interpretation of results.
Thanks to their manual skills, attention to detail, and practical sense, they directly contribute to the quality, performance, and homologation of Soprema's products and systems.
THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU
Preparation and execution of tests
- Prepare materials, tools, and equipment needed for test execution;
- Build and install roof assemblies required for wind uplift tests according to CSA123.21 standard;
- Prepare setups for various tests on Soprema's product range;
- Perform tests according to established procedures;
- Take measurements and record data;
- Participate in the analysis and interpretation of obtained results.
- Technical support and documentation
- Assist the Internal Tests Project Manager in test execution;
- Collaborate on data compilation and technical report writing;
- Communicate observations, preliminary results, and encountered issues;
- Participate in the improvement of work methods, setups, and test procedures.
- Laboratory maintenance
- Prepare and manage materials needed for tests;
- Maintain and verify the proper functioning of equipment;
- Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and safe.
- THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Your background
- Professional studies diploma, college diploma, or any combination of training and relevant experience in a field related to construction, mechanics, materials, or technical testing;
- Practical experience in the installation of construction materials;
- Experience in the roofing, building envelope, or as an installer, considered an important asset;
- Experience in a laboratory, quality control, or technical testing, considered an asset.
Your knowledge
- Good knowledge of tools, materials, and installation methods used in the construction field;
- Knowledge of roofing systems and building envelope materials;
- General understanding of the functioning of the building envelope and roofing systems;
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, test methods, and technical instructions;
- Knowledge of measurement principles, calibration, and data collection, considered an asset.
Your know-how and know-being
- Excellent manual skills and ease of use of tools;
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities;
- Team spirit and ease of collaboration with different stakeholders;
- Mastery of spoken and written French;
- Functional knowledge of spoken and written English to understand certain documents, standards, or technical exchanges.
Your work conditions
- 40-hour workweek;
- Work mainly in the laboratory and workshop;
- Occasional trips to job sites or other facilities;
