Under the authority of the foreman of the service, the incumbent of the operator machine worker position will have to carry out various tasks inherent to the Public Works Service - road section.
More specifically, he:
- Drives and operates machinery, notably the wheeled excavator, in accordance with municipal policies in the context of maintenance work on properties, equipment and networks of all kinds placed under the responsibility of the municipality;
- Carry out excavation/filling work according to the safety practices for heavy machinery;
- Ensures the realization of various works of development, repair and maintenance of equipment, land, buildings and other works related to the maintenance of the public road network, road signs, as well as drainage ditches, bridges and culverts;
- Ensures the preventive maintenance of the equipment used, keeps a route sheet up to date and reports any observed defect to his superior;
- Performs the transport or displacement of equipment, materials, and participates in their loading and unloading;
- Provides the necessary support for the completion of certain mechanical or technical nature works;
- During the activities of the City, ensures the opening and closing of the premises, prepares the required equipment for the smooth running of the activities and provides technical support for the arrangement of rooms, equipment and grounds;
- Ensures the execution of works related to a citizen's request or complaint according to the orientation given by the foreman;
- Applies the health and safety at work prevention program in accordance with the rules and norms in force according to the *Workplace Safety and Prevention Act* and according to the expectations of the CNESST;
- Executes all other related, occasional or punctual tasks assigned by his immediate superior, related to the road section or another section of the public works department, or any other department of the City (ex. parks and buildings, environmental hygiene, leisure, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- Class III driver's license
- "General Health and Safety on Construction Sites" card from ASP construction
- Experience in operating heavy machinery
Working Conditions
- Permanent full-time position
- 40 hours per week
- Salary between $27.50 and $32.83 per hour, depending on experience
