PGW Auto Glass is seeking a bilingual Human Resources Generalist who will serve as the primary on-site HR resource for our operations in Quebec. This position involves supporting a diverse workforce including drivers, warehouse employees, technicians, and office professionals, while working closely with the Canadian HR business partner.

The Human Resources Generalist will provide comprehensive operational support throughout the employee lifecycle, with a particular focus on employee relations, compliance, performance management, leave administration, and daily support for managers and employees. The successful candidate will build trust within the organization, resolve workplace issues promptly and practically, and ensure consistent application of company policies and employment standards.

This role is ideal for an HR professional with 2 to 5 years of progressive experience who wishes to expand their expertise and advance to higher-level HR positions.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and front-line managers across Quebec.
  • Build strong relationships with employees and managers through regular on-site presence and proactive communication.
  • Provide advice on company policies, employment practices, and workplace issues.
  • Investigate attendance issues, employee complaints, and other workplace-related concerns.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and prepare appropriate documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Canadian HR business partner on complex employee relations issues.
  • Assist managers with performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Draft disciplinary documentation, performance improvement plans, and other employment-related correspondence.

Human Resources Operations

  • Coordinate new employee onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Process HR transactions within the UKG HR information system.
  • Maintain employee and personnel files.
  • Support leave management, employment verification requests, and other administrative HR processes.
  • Assist with payroll and employee data management activities.
  • Coordinate background checks and pre-hire activities as needed.
  • Support benefits administration and respond to employee inquiries.

Compliance

  • Assist with provincial and federal employment requirements.
  • Support government reporting and declaration obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, including Quebec-specific requirements.
  • Assist with workers' compensation, leave management, and other mandatory programs.
  • Ensure HR documentation and practices comply with applicable laws and company policies.

Workplace Relations

  • Support collective bargaining administration, if applicable.
  • Assist with grievance documentation and coordination.
  • Collaborate with the Canadian HR business partner on union-related issues.

HR Partnership

  • Collaborate with Canadian and North American HR team members on key initiatives.
  • Participate in HR projects aimed at improving employee experience and operational efficiency.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive HR matters appropriately while managing routine HR activities autonomously.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and service-oriented HR culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or broad-scope role.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Canadian French (the HR team is primarily composed of non-Quebec residents and team communication is in English).
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR practices.
  • Experience in supporting employee relations, investigations, performance management, and workplace coaching.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Assets

  • Experience using UKG or another HR information system.
  • Experience supporting distribution, logistics, retail, manufacturing, or other multi-site operations.
  • Experience working with hourly and salaried personnel.
  • Knowledge of unionized environments.
