The claims service plays a crucial role in protecting the company's legal, financial, and operational interests by managing incidents related to damages or losses of goods and containers during maritime and land transportation. Main Tasks

  • Claims tracking and management: Monitor damages to containers and goods during maritime and land transportation.
  • Evaluation of claims related to goods and others: Financial losses and responsibilities towards third parties.
  • Customer support: Assist internal and external stakeholders in resolving complaints and ensuring the secure delivery of containers.
  • Evidence collection: Conduct investigations and gather the necessary documentation to establish responsibilities.
  • Operational coordination: Organize the provision of special equipment, transshipment, or reconsignment of goods if necessary.
  • Resolution and recovery: Develop and implement strategies for recovery, elimination, or re-routing of goods.
  • Regulatory compliance: Stay informed about international maritime laws, import/export regulations, and port customs procedures. Ensure full compliance of all goods handling activities to minimize legal risks for the carrier and its clients.
  • Communication with stakeholders: Be the main contact for clients, port authorities, customs officers, and other stakeholders regarding claims. Communicate clearly and professionally the updates regarding the progress of cases, resolution deadlines, and recovery options.
  • Financial impact mitigation: Negotiate with service providers, clients, and insurers to minimize losses and optimize cost recovery. Keep up-to-date financial statements, documentation, and communications necessary for internal audits.
  • Process improvement: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement process improvements, training programs, and technological solutions aimed at reducing the recurrence of problems.
  • Customer service: Manage delicate interactions with clients regarding claims, address their concerns, and maintain positive relationships. Provide advice on the customs clearance of goods, alternative solutions, or claim procedures.
  • Legal liaison: Collaborate with maritime law specialists on disputes and cost recovery, representing the carrier's interests during negotiations, out-of-court settlements, or judicial proceedings, as needed.
