Role and responsibilities

Reporting to the electromechanical team leader, the electromechanic ensures the maintenance and optimization of production equipment to maximize its availability, reliability, and performance.

They carry out preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance, as well as diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.

They actively take part in installation, modification, and continuous improvement projects for production equipment, including plastic injection presses, robotic cells, auxiliary equipment, and CNC machining machines.

They also help meet health and safety, quality, productivity, and reliability goals in manufacturing operation

Main tasks

  • Carry out troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, proportional hydraulic, and electro-pneumatic systems;
  • Effectively diagnose production stoppages and identify the root causes of failures;
  • Execute, document, and contribute to the improvement of the preventive and predictive maintenance program;
  • Be comfortable reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic plans; perform basic diagnostics on programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), variable frequency drives (VFD), and robotic systems;
  • Participate in the installation, start-up, and commissioning of new equipment;
  • Perform some manufacturing, adjustment, machining, and welding (MIG, TIG, ARC) work;
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance;
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing downtime, increasing efficiency, and improving safety;
  • Ensure proper documentation of the interventions carried out;
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Perform any other related tasks related to his/her field of expertise .

Knowledge, Education and Experience

  • College diploma in electromechanical technology, automated systems maintenance, or industrial maintenance; 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance;
  • Good knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems;
  • Experience in PLC and operator interface diagnostics;
  • Ability to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams;
  • Basic knowledge of welding, machining, and fabrication;
  • French is necessary (spoken and written);
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CMMS tools;

Assets

  • Experience in the plastic injection molding industry with Engel, Arburg, or equivalent machines;
  • Experience with Cartesian robots or six-axis robots;
  • Experience with CNC machining centers and precision equipment like Röders, Mikron, or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of PLCs;
  • Bilingual in French and English;
  • Class C license, non-construction;
  • Experience in a certified automotive (IATF) or medical environment.
