Electromechanical Technician

Role and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the electromechanical team leader, the electromechanical technician ensures the maintenance and optimization of production equipment to maximize their availability, reliability, and performance. They perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance, as well as diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.

They actively participate in installation, modification, and continuous improvement projects for production equipment, including plastic injection presses, robotic cells, auxiliary equipment, and CNC machining equipment.

They contribute to meeting health and safety, quality, productivity, and reliability objectives for manufacturing operations.

Main Tasks

• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, proportional hydraulic, and electro-pneumatic systems;
• Effectively diagnose production stoppages and identify the root causes of failures;
• Execute, document, and contribute to the improvement of the preventive and predictive maintenance program;
• Have good proficiency in reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic plans;
• Perform basic diagnostics on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), operator interfaces (HMI), speed variators (VFD), and robotic systems;
• Participate in the installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment;
• Perform certain manufacturing, adjustment, machining, and welding operations (MIG, TIG, ARC);
• Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance;
• Actively participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing downtime, increasing efficiency, and improving safety;
• Ensure adequate documentation of performed interventions;
• Perform any other related tasks within the scope of expertise.

Knowledge, Education, and Experience

• Hold a professional or college diploma in electromechanical technology, automated systems maintenance, or industrial maintenance;
• Have 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance;
• Good knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems;
• Experience in PLC and operator interface diagnostics;
• Ability to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics;
• Basic knowledge of welding, machining, and manufacturing;
• Good command of spoken and written French;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and GMAO.

Assets

• Experience in the plastic injection molding industry, such as Engel, Arburg, or equivalent;
• Experience with Cartesian or six-axis robots;
• Experience with CNC machining centers and precision equipment, such as Röders, Mikron, or equivalent;
• Knowledge of PLCs;
• Bilingual French-English;
• Class C driver's license outside of construction;
• Experience in an automotive (IATF) or medical certified environment.
