Product Owner *Quebec City, QC (Hybrid) Full Time*

In the course of his/her functions, the Product Owner will be paired with a talented and professional development team that is used to facing various and complex challenges. The team, composed of multidisciplinary people, is responsible for setting up and developing a solution to accelerate the industrialization of an artificial intelligence model.

The team defines and deploys an automated processing chain aimed at facilitating the training of artificial intelligence models in order to increase and facilitate the analysis of collected data. The team is composed of developers and artificial intelligence specialists.

Essential Functions

As a PO (Product Owner), your responsibility is to align the product vision with the strategic and functional concerns of the various stakeholders.

Vision and Orientation

  • The PO must be able to well understand the concerns of users, stakeholders and must understand the technological and budgetary limitations of the product in order to make good decisions in the construction of the system in order to maximize performance and value added.
  • He/she documents the functional vision and roadmap of his/her product; defining the functions, technological needs and product evolutions;
  • He/she works in concert with the other teams using his/her product to align their development roadmaps with the product roadmap.
  • Planning
  • The product owner organizes the quarterly planning of the project;
  • He/she validates the functional breakdown and ensures the consistency of the entire set of product functions;
  • He/she defines and documents the work plan as well as the user stories he/she writes and prioritizes in a backlog;
  • He/she participates in the estimation of the entire structure of development and support costs of the product;
  • The product owner must be able to maintain and communicate the version plan to the various stakeholders;
  • The product owner prioritizes the needs of users among the different projects that use the product to ensure alignment with the overall product vision according to the constraints of the projects;
  • The product owner communicates with the stakeholders linked to the different projects that use the product to take into account the concerns that may impact the priorities of the product and the deliverables;
  • The product owner is responsible, jointly with the team, for respecting the product delivery commitments.
  • Validation
  • The product owner validates the alignment of the team's work with the product vision during sprint reviews.
  • He/she validates the quality of the team's work in sprint reviews in which he/she tests and executes system test scenarios;
  • Communication and Documentation
  • The product owner must maintain and communicate the product roadmap to the various stakeholders and users of the product;
  • The product owner must present the product internally as well as externally;
  • He/she communicates with the various stakeholders linked to the product in order to take into account the concerns that may impact the priorities and deliverables (project manager, UX designer, technical lead, scientists, clients, collaborators...);
  • The product owner may have to contribute, with the rest of the team, to the functional and user documentation of the developed solutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or any other related field is relevant;
  • The candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Good mastery of French and English, spoken and written;
  • To have good communication, be a good listener and demonstrate openness in order to work with different stakeholders such as clients, project managers, scientists, designers and the development team;
  • To have a good sense of organization, responsibilities and prioritization;
  • To have intellectual curiosity, the taste for learning and diversifying is essential;
  • To have teamwork skills and promote collective intelligence;
  • Functional analysis and functional breakdown skills.

*This position requires good knowledge of English for the writing of technical documents, for interacting, supporting and/or providing services to international clients, employees and/or partners as well as to foreign government authorities who do not speak French.*

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) is an asset;
  • Demonstrated expertise in the field of complex and distributed software solutions
  • Specific Requirements of the Position
  • Travel: between 4 and 6 trips to Europe or elsewhere in Canada are expected per year
