Your Opportunity

Our Buildings practice is looking for a leader to contribute to the growth of the data center and critical infrastructure sector. In this role, you will lead project delivery, strategic business development opportunities, and market growth across Canada, both as a project leader and as an advisory expert.

This is a senior national leadership opportunity for an experienced professional in critical facilities, capable of influencing the operational direction of the sector, shaping program and transformational project activities, and helping Stantec position itself for sustainable growth in a major market for the organization.

In addition to external development, we are looking for a leader who can inspire our team, represent design excellence, and strengthen Stantec's global brand.

In addition to the indicated locations, this position is open to any city where Stantec has an office.

Your Key Responsibilities

Client and Project Stewardship

  • Serve as project lead for the design and delivery of major critical facilities projects.
  • Lead the execution of significant project development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technical leads and project managers to achieve key operational performance indicators, including traditional financial metrics, and actively contribute to written content in the context of strategic engagements.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of thought leaders in this sector.
  • Inspire, motivate, and empower the team to deliver innovative and sustainable design solutions.
  • Provide extended influence in the sector and senior technical leadership on critical programs, projects, and clients, helping teams address complex challenges where precedent may be limited and long-term business outcomes are at stake.

Business Development and Collaboration

  • Lead and participate in pursuits and campaigns targeting major opportunities.
  • Develop and grow the critical facilities sector to attract top-tier clients and support revenue growth.
  • Contribute to Stantec's leadership and brand by sharing our knowledge and innovation stories in key client engagements, industry events, and within our professional networks.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to foster collaboration on pursuits across regions and disciplines.
  • Actively contribute to winning strategies and successful project delivery by participating in key pursuits, client relationship development, and project management.
  • Collaborate with other market leaders, sub-specialists, BC leaders, and regional and national sector leaders to develop and leverage expertise within our practice.
  • Collaborate on the development of the sector's annual plans and budgets, defining vision, priorities, and implementation objectives, as well as specific performance business objectives in a forward-looking and future-oriented perspective.
  • Establish, modify, and execute strategic operational plans and objectives for the critical facilities sector in Canada, aligning client priorities, resource needs, financial objectives, and long-term growth strategies across regions and disciplines.
  • Influence the development and execution of sector practices, delivery approaches, and business strategies that may impact immediate operations and contribute to broader organizational results.

Brand Advocacy

  • Identify opportunities for brand advocacy within the industry and community.
  • Speak at targeted conferences, publish thought leadership articles, and maintain active memberships in associations, including board or committee positions.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop sector campaigns that promote the recognition of the Stantec brand through presentations, conferences, articles, public relations, awards, etc.
  • Contribute to Stantec's customer satisfaction and survey program and support it.
  • Monitor sub-sector trends and formulate recommendations, taking into account the links with our other sectors and markets.
  • Seek and facilitate the sharing of industry knowledge.
  • Represent Stantec as a recognized voice nationally in the critical facilities sector, using market knowledge, client relationships, and thought leadership to advance the sector's positioning and support transformational opportunities.
  • Your Skills and Competencies
  • Be recognized and established in the data center / critical infrastructure industry.
  • Have an exceptionally strong understanding of the market, including industry trends and key players, as well as the ability to read the market to identify growth opportunities and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Possess highly specialized expertise in critical facilities, including the ability to guide complex and transformational programs and influence the direction of the sector across regions, disciplines, and relationships with major clients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise a high degree of autonomy, latitude, and judgment in planning, organizing, and directing major program or project activities that have a direct impact on critical clients, business operations, and long-term sector objectives.
  • Possess strong business development skills, including significant experience in establishing and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
  • Have strong experience with market evaluation techniques, analyses, and contacts.
  • Demonstrate acute design and leadership on major projects.
  • Have experience in responding to requests for proposals, expressions of interest, and qualifications statements.
  • Have demonstrated success in developing new clients, maintaining strong client relationships, and creating long-term value for Stantec clients.
  • Exhibit entrepreneurial orientation and a strong understanding of the business development challenges faced by a service-consulting provider.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Have demonstrated success in establishing strategic operational plans, managing resources based on financial and operational objectives, and influencing policies, practices, or delivery models supporting sector growth and organizational performance.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in your field.
  • Professional registration in your field.
  • 15 years or more of experience in the critical facilities and data center industry.
