Zurich Canadian Holdings Limited, located at 100 King Street West, Suite 5500, Toronto (Ontario) M5X 1C9, offers a permanent position as a Subscription Specialist within its Eastern Region.
Zurich Canada is currently seeking a Subscription Specialist to join the Commercial General Liability - Quebec team, based at 1800 McGill College Avenue, Suite 1100, Montreal (Quebec) H3A 3J6. In this role, you will be responsible for generating a pipeline of new business opportunities while managing a portfolio of renewals consisting of mid-market, large enterprise, and multinational clients with revenues exceeding $300M.

Zurich applies a hybrid work model requiring in-person presence three days a week, which may include office work or market activities with partners and clients.
Your Responsibilities
- Proactively seek out renewal and new business opportunities
- Conduct detailed analyses of opportunities with key distributors to identify growth potential
- Qualify accounts based on the organization's risk appetite while ensuring solid business opportunities
- Conduct on-site visits to agents, brokers, and clients with clear objectives and thorough preparation
- Negotiate terms and conditions and close transactions
- Promote cross-selling of other business lines to increase product density per account
- Participate in broker and/or territory team sales meetings
- Actively participate in the targeted accounts process by managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days before the expiration date
- Update required systems with information related to broker/client visits and account status within prescribed deadlines
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned target accounts
- Develop strong networks of brokers and clients in the industries underwritten by the business unit
- Accurately calculate target pricing using appropriate underwriting tools
- Measure exposure and analyze risks
- Propose product development ideas
- Contribute to staff training and development
- Provide expertise in coverage matters related to claims programs and guidelines
- Contribute to the development of underwriting manuals, programs, and guidelines
- Approve and place optional coverages
- Develop and deliver marketing presentations to new and existing agents and brokers
- Promote products and services to increase penetration within the distribution network
- Ensure project success by maintaining continuous dialogue with business unit stakeholders during the implementation of major projects
- Analyze complex issues related to the business unit or clients and formulate recommendations
- Lead complex or long-term technical projects (over six months) related to the implementation or modification of systems, programs, or products
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement innovative technological solutions that meet client needs
- Bilingualism in French and English is required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of experience in commercial underwriting or a market-focused role OR
High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least ten (10) years of experience in commercial claims or commercial underwriting support
AND
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Experience working with tight deadlines for new business and renewal submissions
- Experience working in a team environment
- Proficiency in French is mandatory for this position; proficiency in English is an asset
Assets
- More than five (5) years of experience in Commercial General Liability underwriting (multinational clients)
- Bachelor's degree
- Post-secondary studies in risk management or insurance
- Legal knowledge or experience
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience with Microsoft Office
At Zurich Canada, we are committed to pay equity. Compensation is determined based on objective criteria such as skills, experience, and internal equity. The salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $130,000. This range represents the national salary scale and may vary based on location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. In good faith, Zurich provides a reasonable salary range in accordance with legal requirements; however, the starting salary may exceed this range based on the candidate's experience and skills.
Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is required to facilitate communications with internal and external stakeholders outside of Quebec.
