Our client is looking for a passionate and dedicated resource in environmental management and safety to ensure the compliance and efficiency of their port operations. As a key member of the management team, you will play a central role in developing and implementing strategies that guarantee the safety, compliance, sustainability, and performance of the company.

A reliable, experienced company, a leader in its field for nearly 40 years, specializing in the receipt, storage, and distribution of bulk liquid products (oil, biofuels, chemicals). At the Port of Québec, it can meet the various supply needs of its customers by handling products by ship, tanker trucks, or tank cars. In this entity, more than 50 employees are needed to maintain operations under the highest standards in quality, health, and safety, 24/7, 365 days a year.
JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Terminal Director, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing activities related to the environment and safety. You will ensure the compliance of operations in environmental and safety matters and implement strategies to anticipate, manage, and respond to any incident or critical situation.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Collaboration
Ensure the implementation, compliance, and monitoring of laws, regulations, and policies related to the environment and safety (maritime and railway) in connection with terminal operations;
Train and mobilize the team to ensure compliance and reactivity in case of incidents.
Conduct investigations into incidents, analyze the causes, and propose corrective measures;
Contribute to strategic planning and the development projects of the company.
Environment
Ensure regulatory compliance and manage environmental permits.
Supervise environmental monitoring (water sampling, audits, studies)
Safety: Develop and maintain safety plans, while coordinating regular exercises;
Assume the role of safety agent and ensure the application of maritime and railway safety standards;
Collaborate with local authorities (Port of Québec, Transport Canada, firefighters) to ensure optimal reactivity in case of incidents.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to the environment and maritime safety;
Representation in committees related to the environment and safety;
Develop, implement, and maintain continuous improvement programs and procedures in safety and environmental matters;
Maintain relationships with safety partners (Port of Québec, Transport Canada, firefighters, etc.) and coordinate actions in case of incidents.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or a relevant discipline;
- More than 10 years of proven experience in a similar field;
- Bilingual;
- Proficiency in Office Suite;
- Willing to work in the Québec region quickly;
Strong personnel management and process development skills.

Ability to manage stress in demanding situations;
Ability to work in a team and set clear and effective objectives;
Ability to collaborate with external partners and government authorities with tact and political sense;
Positive leadership oriented towards improvement and the ability to mobilize teams;
Analytical and synthesis mind.
Valid driver's license.
