The Project Manager, under the responsibility of the Construction Director, ensures the overall supervision and coordination of all stages of the construction project, including collaboration with health and safety, planning, quality, cost, customer relations, and collaboration with subcontractors.

The role is performed on-site, full-time. We have different sites across Quebec. This role therefore requires a great deal of geographical mobility, as well as the availability to work in rotation.

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in civil / mechanical / electrical / construction engineering;
  • Membership in a Canadian professional engineering association (depending on the provinces), an asset;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar roles;
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Advanced French proficiency, both oral and written;
  • Advanced English proficiency, both oral and written, to interact daily with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, partners, and colleagues outside of Quebec, many of whom communicate only in English. Must participate in coordination and project management meetings with national teams, provide progress updates, and fill out reports for English-speaking stakeholders;
  • Great geographical mobility;
  • Hold a valid driver's license;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, autonomy, and leadership;
  • Excellent team management and conflict resolution skills;

What you will do to successfully accomplish this mission

  • On-site company representative:
  • Responsible for project task planning, program framework organization, work estimation, contract awarding, cost control, project management, and project team supervision;
  • Ensure good relations with the community, client, suppliers, and project team.
  • Project coordination:
  • Coordinate work in collaboration with the project team;
  • Establish work methods in collaboration with the Site Manager and Supervisor;
  • Negotiate and approve the selection of main contractors in collaboration with senior management.
  • Procurement management:
  • Organize and lead construction site meetings as needed;
  • Participate in meetings with the client and disseminate necessary information for the smooth operation of the site;
  • Organize internal meetings to effectively communicate relevant information and coordinate resources, including subcontractors;
  • Have the authority to stop any activity deemed non-compliant by Borea Construction workers;
  • Project tracking:
  • Perform administrative tracking - costs, productivity, unforeseen events, contracts, etc.;
  • Perform technical tracking - technical sheets, inspections, etc.;
  • Track change orders - estimation, client offer, negotiation, issuance of orders and/or contracts;
  • Track payments with the accounts payable and accounts receivable services;
  • Authorize payments to subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Perform warranty tracking;
  • Coordinate preliminary work inspections in collaboration with the Supervisor;
  • Coordinate pre-operational verification in collaboration with the Supervisor;
  • Complete the project in collaboration with the Supervisor and obtain final client acceptance;
  • Communicate performance indicators to senior management;
  • Perform all other related tasks.
