We are looking for an experienced project coordinator with strong expertise in occupational health and safety to contribute to the delivery of significant construction projects in Quebec City, the regional capital.

In this multidisciplinary role, you will be responsible for the overall coordination of projects, from planning and design to on-site execution. You will ensure communication between professional teams, clients, contractors, government partners, and relevant organizations to ensure smooth project advancement while adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices in occupational health and safety.

You will actively participate in the preparation and follow-up of business files, coordination of design activities, and management of authorization and approval requests. In parallel, you will assume an advisory role in OHS by ensuring daily management of health and safety issues on construction sites, conducting inspections, assisting teams in identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring the implementation of OHS programs and procedures.

With your mobilizing leadership, you will contribute to developing a strong prevention culture among all stakeholders, while ensuring the achievement of quality, schedule, budget, and safety objectives.

Main Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage large-scale projects from feasibility studies to delivery, ensuring a holistic vision and rigorous execution
  • Ensure alignment of professional teams with client needs, quality objectives, and defined budget, while providing strategic tracking of deviations
  • Support and advise stakeholders in identifying innovative solutions to ensure optimal project management and smooth execution
  • Act quickly on critical issues that may impact profitability, schedules, supply chain, or deliverable quality, mobilizing relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare, structure, and facilitate follow-up meetings with clients and internal and external partners, ensuring clear, transparent, and results-oriented communication
  • Actively participate in operational and strategic project management activities, including process improvement, risk management, and performance tracking
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Coordination
  • Conduct on-site interventions at construction sites and work zones to ensure proactive OHS presence
  • Analyze, interpret, and formulate recommendations from various documents produced by design professionals and OHS supervisors (e.g., prevention frameworks, work procedures, inspection reports, accident registers)
  • Conduct risk assessments and analyses to identify potentially hazardous situations and propose appropriate corrective measures
  • Examine accident statistics, compile performance indicators, and identify trends to support decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Assist the Owner in developing, updating, and optimizing their health and safety management program, providing technical expertise and practical advice
  • Assume OHS supervisor duties, if needed, to support operational activities and promote a prevention culture

Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical) or any other relevant field related to OHS
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction sites and accident prevention (OHS)
  • Membership in the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ), a strong asset
  • PMP certification, an asset
  • ASP Construction card, mandatory
  • In-depth knowledge of the Labour Code (Health and Safety at Work Act), Canadian Labour Code (Part II – OHS), and applicable regulations and codes
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, supervision, and coaching skills
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis in OHS-related contractual documents
  • Proficiency in French, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written, a strong asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (advanced Word, intermediate Excel, basic Outlook)
  • Availability and flexibility to work full-time on construction sites
