IPS is seeking a motivated Strategic Purchaser to support and develop our procurement strategy. We are looking for a highly organized and analytical professional with strong negotiation skills to manage strategic sourcing activities, primarily focused on transformers and electrical equipment.

Reporting to the Administrative Manager, the Strategic Purchaser is responsible for developing and optimizing the company’s strategic sourcing activities. This role plays a key part in transformer procurement, supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and supplier relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for transformers and electrical equipment;
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with new suppliers and manufacturers;
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, and supply agreements;
  • Analyze market trends and costs to identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement;
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers;
  • Collaborate with sales, project, production, and operations teams to support procurement requirements;
  • Ensure purchased products meet technical requirements and quality standards;
  • Evaluate supplier performance and support the resolution of delivery and contractual issues;
  • Maintain accurate procurement data and contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, purchasing, or a similar role;
  • Experience purchasing transformers, electrical equipment, or industrial equipment is a strong asset;
  • Excellent negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience;
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical abilities;
  • Ability to analyze costs, market trends, and business opportunities;
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field;
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the medium- and high-voltage electrical market is an asset.
