As an intern in engine programming at Beenox, you will join a seasoned development team working on global franchises such as Call of Duty. You will participate in the development, optimization, and maintenance of the studio's low-level technologies and proprietary game engines. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience at the heart of AAA game production, combining complex problem-solving, performance optimization, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Your main responsibilities
- Engine & Low-Level Development: Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of game engine subsystems in C++.
- Optimization & Performance: Identify bottlenecks (CPU, GPU, memory) and perform performance optimization tasks to ensure smooth operation across different software and hardware architectures.
- Bug Resolution & Advanced Debugging: Diagnose, analyze, and fix complex technical issues or memory leaks in the existing codebase.
- Tools & Production Pipelines: Collaborate on improving and automating internal tools and render/build pipelines used daily by artistic and design teams.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with gameplay programming, art, and design teams to meet technical requirements and efficiently integrate new features.
- Basic Requirements
- Education: Active student in a university program in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
- C++ Proficiency: Solid understanding of the C++ language (memory management, pointers, data structures, object-oriented programming).
- Software Architecture Basics: Knowledge of low-level programming concepts, multithreading, and fundamental software engineering principles.
- Problem-Solving: Rigorous analytical skills and comfort with debugging complex code.
- Team Spirit: Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate in an agile and dynamic environment.
- Experience with First-Person Shooter (FPS) games
- Bonus
Experience with a game engine (proprietary, Unreal Engine, Unity) or personal projects (3D rendering, personal engines).
Knowledge of the C# language or scripting languages (Python).
Understanding of modern graphics APIs (DirectX, Vulkan, OpenGL) or game console architectures.
Portfolio or GitHub account showcasing low-level programming or video game projects.
