The Mechanical Reliability Engineer acts as a technical expert for the operational and maintenance teams to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of existing facilities.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to operational, maintenance, engineering, inspection teams, and contractors to ensure the success of shutdowns.
• Conduct analyses, technical studies, and recommendations to improve equipment performance.
• Participate in the decision-making process as a technical expert in pipeline and pressure vessel inspection and repair.
• Optimize equipment lifespan, plan and justify the replacement of pipelines and fixed equipment, and perform analyses using the « Fitness For Service » method.
• Participate in the development and implementation of various inspection programs. Maintain and develop the procedures and processes of the mechanical reliability program.
• Produce the required engineering deliverables for projects and assignments, including technical estimates, purchase orders, job instructions, calculation notes, and other technical documents.
• Manage multiple assignments or projects of varying sizes and complexities simultaneously.
• Participate in failure analyses and identification of root causes.
• Collaborate with the various departments of the refinery as well as with external consultants.
• Participate in the preparation and execution of major shutdowns.
• Operate in a dynamic operational environment where priorities can change quickly and adjust interventions accordingly.
• Participate in HAZOP, What-if, MOC, and pre-operational checks.
• Project Engineer

The Project Engineer acts as a project manager for the realization of investment (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) projects of varying scopes.

Main Responsibilities

• Define the technical scope of projects and recommend the most appropriate solutions.
• Develop cost estimates, schedules, and execution strategies.
• Produce or coordinate the production of the required engineering deliverables for project execution. In some internally completed assignments, assume full responsibility for the design and production of technical documents.
• Prepare justification files and presentations for decision-making bodies.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities.
• Manage multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously.
• Supervise consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
• Prepare requests for proposals, analyze submissions, and recommend contract awards.
• Monitor budgets and schedules.
• Control significant changes and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Participate in HAZOP, What-if, MOC, and pre-operational checks.
• Rotating Mechanical Engineer (ROTO)

The ROTO Engineer acts as a technical expert for the critical rotating equipment of the refinery.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure the integrity and performance of rotating equipment.
• Act as an expert advisor for compressors, turbines, pumps, and other critical rotating equipment.
• Participate in failure analyses and technical investigations.
• Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability.
• Provide specialized technical support to maintenance and operational teams.
• Develop or revise maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
• Collaborate on investment projects involving rotating equipment.
• Ensure the application of best practices in maintenance and engineering.
• Shutdown Engineer

The Shutdown Engineer contributes to the planning and execution of the refinery's major shutdowns by ensuring the integration of technical, schedule, and cost considerations.

Main Responsibilities

• Analyze the impact of execution strategies on costs and formulate recommendations to ensure the competitiveness of shutdowns.
• Develop tracking tools and present cost and schedule estimates for shutdowns.
• Participate in the preparation of funding requests for shutdowns.
• Ensure cost control, analyze deviations from the approved plan, and identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
• Participate in the definition, planning, and execution of work associated with shutdowns.
• Ensure technical coordination of various assignments and projects related to shutdowns.
• Collaborate with operational, maintenance, engineering teams, and contractors to ensure the success of shutdowns.
• In addition to the responsibilities specific to their sector, the incumbent participates in various engineering and project management activities, including the definition of the technical scope, production of engineering deliverables, development of estimates and schedules, and monitoring of improvement and investment projects.

Qualifications

• Hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, or industrial engineering.
• Be a member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
• Demonstrate an aptitude for writing engineering deliverables, including reports, technical estimates, and job instructions.
• Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrate autonomy, judgment, and initiative.
• Show excellent teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Demonstrate leadership and the ability to influence and mobilize colleagues without hierarchical authority.

Assets

• Knowledge of pressure equipment, rotating equipment, or industrial processes.
