About the position

You will work as an insurance coverage lawyer at one of our offices located in Quebec City or Longueuil, for Promutuel Assurance, in a hybrid mode.

Are you an experienced insurance coverage lawyer looking to leverage your rigor and legal judgment by working on varied and stimulating cases?

You will have a concrete impact on the organization's activities and those of the mutual companies by being called upon to analyze insurance policies, both in liability and direct damage, to assess the obligation to defend and indemnify, to render opinions and manage complex cases.

Your responsibilities

• Review and analyze the available insurance coverage under the law and various insurance policies to advise the mutual companies;
• Write legal opinions on insurance coverage as well as letters of reservation and denial for the mutual companies;
• Examine and analyze litigious cases to report to the mutual companies on the risks and strategy (defense, settlement, etc.) related to insurance coverage;
• Conduct jurisprudential and doctrinal research to support the argumentation;
• Ensure the follow-up of litigious cases with the mutual companies in the management of litigation in the field of insurance coverage;
• Manage investigations on insurance coverage;
• Advise the mutual companies and recommend the transfer of the case to litigation as needed;
• Other related tasks.

Do you have this profile?

• Bachelor's degree in law;
• Member of the Quebec Bar;
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in private practice or in a company, including three (3) years in insurance coverage;
• Good knowledge of insurance contracts, law, and jurisprudence in the field of insurance coverage;
• Excellent analytical and synthesis skills;
• Strong writing skills.
