As a Buyer – Maintenance and Operations, you will play a key role in procuring industrial goods and services necessary for Garant's activities. You will be tasked with developing procurement strategies, negotiating favorable agreements, expanding our supplier network, and identifying optimization opportunities.
In close collaboration with internal teams, you will directly contribute to reducing costs, securing supplies, and improving the performance of our operations, in a manufacturing environment where challenges are varied and your ability to quickly find the right solution will make all the difference.
Main Responsibilities
Procurement and Negotiation
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) categories.
- Manage RFPs, analyze submissions, and recommend the most advantageous solutions.
- Negotiate prices, contracts, commercial terms, and long-term agreements.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new procurement sources.
- Conduct market studies and expenditure analyses to identify optimization and purchase consolidation opportunities.
Supplier Management
- Develop lasting relationships with key suppliers.
- Evaluate and track supplier performance using key indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their needs and propose tailored procurement solutions.
- Negotiate and follow up on agreements with service centers and maintenance service providers.
Planning and Operational Continuity
- Place and track purchase orders to ensure the availability of required goods and services.
- Analyze MRP-generated needs and plan procurement and subcontracting activities.
- Manage urgent supply disruptions and quickly implement alternative solutions.
- Keep inventory, pricing, and procurement data up to date in the ERP system.
Optimization and Continuous Improvement
- Identify cost reduction and service level improvement opportunities.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of procurement processes.
- Negotiate residual material sales agreements and follow up on transactions.
- Contribute to the overall optimization of the supply chain performance.
- Desired Profile
Education and Experience
- DEC in administrative techniques, procurement management, logistics, or a relevant discipline.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Good knowledge of ERP and MRP systems.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Basic knowledge in plumbing, electricity, mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, particularly with suppliers.
- Project management experience, an asset.
- Knowledge of KPIs and Total Cost of Acquisition (TCO), an asset.
