ROLE
As an assistant manager or assistant manager of the mess, you must provide an exceptional customer experience in our military messes. In the context of major events as well as in everyday life, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with the military community by leveraging your experience in operations and hospitality services. Military messes are gathering places where members of the Canadian Armed Forces socialize and boost their morale. The incumbent will ensure the proper functioning of mess activities, including food service and bar services, while complying with rigorous health, hygiene, and safety requirements. You will strictly enforce provincial liquor laws as well as the policies of the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Forces, and the unit on responsible alcohol service, employee consumption restrictions, and customer behavior. You will assess staffing needs for receptions and make relevant recommendations as well as oversee activities related to protocol, table settings, room layouts, special menus, and beverage needs for the dining room. In this role, you will work as a team to provide the best possible service to our members and contribute to a positive work environment.
Required Qualifications
Education, Certificates, and Licenses
Several years of experience in the food service sector or a related hospitality field, including experience in supervision.
Provincial responsible alcohol service certificate.
Experience
Coordination of hospitality services.
Application of relevant policies, procedures, and laws.
Organization of banquets and receptions.
Management of stocks and a bar.
Administration of staff.
Use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email, and internet navigation software.
Skills
Customer orientation, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork, and leadership.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
French essential.
Written comprehension: Functional.
Written expression: Functional.
Oral interaction: Functional.
