Contribute to the success of Scotia Bank’s Canadian Advantage Concessionaire Collections service by ensuring that individual goals, initiatives, and plans are met to support the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.

Does this role suit you? Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer-focused culture to deepen relationships with clients and leverage the relationships, knowledge, and systems of the entire Bank.
  • Ensure that repossession activities are carried out properly by making decisions regarding, among other things, the approval of storage fees, acceptance of payments, offer of settlements, evaluation of net value, and assignment to a third-party vendor, within the limits of authorized authorization; by conducting thorough research and intensive screening to trace missing vehicles within a limited timeframe to prevent accounts from being written off as bad debts and to mitigate losses; by assigning approved files to our external vendor and providing all necessary information for the assignment and recovery of vehicles under the service level agreement; ensuring that files are properly handled by agents and transmitted to the regional bailiff offering the best cost-effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the efficiency of functional unit activities and the overall profitability of the Bank by recommending appropriate changes to operations to improve the level of loss mitigation and repossession/buyback rates; by developing reports and analyses on portfolio trends that may impact our credit decisions; by consulting with external vendors to identify and apply industry best practices; by assuming full responsibility for all inquiries, questions, or complaints received and providing an appropriate and timely solution in accordance with the Bank’s policy and procedure; by quickly and constructively conducting perception activities with clients whose vehicles have recently been repossessed to proceed with the buyback.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be taken into account in activities and decisions.
  • Actively seek efficiency in sector activities while ensuring the appropriateness, compliance, and effectiveness of current regulatory controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, money laundering and terrorist financing risk, and misconduct risk. This includes following the operational risk management framework, the regulatory compliance risk management framework, the global LCBA/LCFT manual (money laundering and terrorist financing), and the Scotia Bank Code of Ethics.
  • Foster a high-performance environment and implement a personnel strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members through an inclusive work environment; communicate the vision, values, and business strategy and manage the planning of team succession and development.
  • Perform collection activities to minimize the proportion of accounts in arrears and losses on loans: act quickly to identify the risk associated with assigned accounts and take immediate measures to mitigate losses and protect the Bank’s position; perform collection activities in a timely and constructive manner by phone, letter, text message, email, or any other appropriate means.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.

This position requires the following skills and experience

  • Experience in the financial services industry or experience in the collection of accounts in arrears.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in vendor management, in repossession mandates, or in a position related to the automotive financing sector.
  • Post-secondary education (college, CÉGEP, or university), an asset.
  • Experience in supervision, an asset, but not essential.
  • Practical knowledge of the Microsoft operating system, Word, Excel, and Outlook software, as well as the Internet.
  • Understanding of legal requirements for vehicle repossession/vehicle recovery (or asset recovery), desirable.

Working Conditions

  • This is standard office work, where working hours are often irregular. The possibility of working shifts or split shifts is offered to accelerate interventions with clients.
  • Remote work is offered as part of the business continuity plan and the company’s requirements for national coverage.

*In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient English proficiency, as the work involves regularly interacting and collaborating with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other individuals, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.*
