YOUR ROLE
What if your expertise in data engineering and analytics could make critical information accessible and exploitable within an innovative and growing School?
By joining ÉTS, you will integrate the IT Project Management and Data Governance Office team. This team develops and evolves the institutional data architecture as well as business intelligence services to support the School's teaching, research, and administrative activities.
What will be your impact as an IT Analyst in Data Engineering and Analytics (BI) at ÉTS?
You will contribute to the implementation of the School's statistical portrait of teaching, research, and administrative activities as well as the realization of projects requiring fine data analysis.
Your work will notably feed data warehouses, data marts, and dashboards used by different units of ÉTS in the context of strategic and operational decisions.
On a daily basis, you will
- Collaborate with architects, programmers, analysts, and project managers in the realization of deliverables related to data organization, operation, and protection.
- Develop and maintain ETL workflows in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Analyze and develop complex SQL analysis and data profiling queries.
- Optimize the performance of ETL processes, SQL queries, and analytical models.
- Perform technical analyses and develop analytical models for data processing and exploitation.
- Ensure the maintenance and integrity of data warehouses and participate in their creation and evolution.
- Participate in deployment activities, including development, testing, production deployment, and version management.
- Analyze the impacts on existing systems during change requests.
- Analyze data statistical requests describing the School's activities and establish database query strategies to respond to them.
- Collaborate in the establishment of guidelines, registers, and technical documentation governing data organization and security practices.
- Assess data security risks and may be required to write reports describing certain risks or events (e.g., personal information protection, etc.).
- Maintain a watch on new trends and best practices in the industry and market in terms of data engineering, operation, and protection, and analyze their potential impacts on the organization.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of Power BI reports.
- DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO MEET THE CHALLENGE?
Education
- You have a bachelor's degree in computer science or any other appropriate discipline.
Experience
- You have a minimum of three (3) years of experience, particularly as a BI developer on SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
- You can identify data processing mechanisms that reduce risks and promote data protection.
- You have complementary expertise in BI technologies (Tableau and MS SSAS Tabular and cube, Power BI including DAX, MDS and DQS, GitLab).
- You have experience with Microsoft Fabric or another modern cloud data platform (asset).
- You have knowledge in data modeling (asset).
- You have experience with Azure Data Factory (asset).
- You have knowledge of government information that frames the protection of personal information (asset).
- You are familiar with the domain of higher education (an asset).
