• The Challenges We Offer You:

Under the authority of the head of the service, the person holding the position acts as a project manager for the design or adaptation of equipment for the CGER client. To this end, they design plans and estimates, plan the work, allocate the necessary resources, oversee, inspect, and conduct the work, all with a concern for public safety, the integrity of government assets, and the efficiency of operations and services offered. They act as a resource in files regarding the health and safety of equipment users. They produce plans and estimates that are part of the tender calls for the acquisition of vehicles and provide mechanical engineering expertise to the client and various services of the CGER.

These tasks require a wide variety of knowledge and require considering various important elements of the industrial domain, employee safety, and service to the served population.

To this end, they must:

• Compile and validate the operational needs of clients;
• Conduct feasibility studies of projects, especially when several needs must be met by the same equipment;
• Determine a project implementation plan.
• Act as a specialist for various clients in the engineering sector to guide them in their choices, achieve higher client satisfaction, and ensure better profitability of the CGER.
• To this end, the person holding the position must:
• Represent the CGER within various committees;
• Provide technical assistance in the inspection of vehicles, ensuring the conformity of the equipment according to the estimate prepared in accordance with engineering rules and the respect of the contract;
• Interpret various applicable regulations and laws, ensure compliance with the rules of the art, the evaluation of equivalent components, and the evaluation of design concepts proposed by suppliers;
• Provide technical assistance to the Partnership Relations Department (DRP);
• Provide technical assistance to the Deputy General Management of Operations (DGAE);
• Provide technical assistance to suppliers during tender or manufacturing processes.
• Conduct technological surveillance of the industry to advise and guide authorities on the priorities for the next years. Actively participate in various colloquia; congresses and call upon resources of interest.
• Carry out various ad hoc technological mandates, such as the writing of reports and project stage reports, the preparation of estimates, data analysis. Participation in project selection and evaluation committees aiming to award grants within standardized programs.

• Annual Salary

According to the standard grade pay scale based on a regular work schedule of 37.5 hours per week, ranging from $62,851 to $110,087*

The grade will be determined at hiring based on the candidate's experience.

• Note:
• This is the pay scale from the 2020-2023 Engineers Collective Agreement, effective January 31, 2023.
• The salary adjustment clause to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be applied later and will be retroactive to the nomination date.

Admission Conditions – Recruitment

• Hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or any other relevant field, or a relevant study certificate whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority1;
• Be a regular member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec as an engineer or engineer;
• Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to occupy a position in the Quebec public service2;
• Have appropriate French language skills for the functions.
