As an Automation Engineer, you optimize the implementation and performance of automated systems, develop functional and test plans, and ensure technical and budgetary project tracking. You collaborate with mechanical engineering, oversee PLC programming, participate in commissioning, and provide technical support to clients and manufacturers to ensure effective and reliable solutions.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include

• Collaborate with mechanical engineering to ensure that automation components are properly positioned, well-protected, and optimized from an ergonomic standpoint.
• Review drawings
• Develop the functional description of the system and test plans, including validation strategy, test scenarios, and test plan.
• Select system control, instrumentation, and power components such as MCC/PLC/HMI/VFD;
• Participate in project meetings;
• Provide technical support to clients and manufacturers to meet their needs and resolve technical issues;
• Participate in PLC programming and oversee the progress of programmers;
• Participate in system testing and debugging in the factory and commissioning at clients' sites;
• Ensure budgetary tracking of automation components in the project, including proactive identification of budget discrepancies or funding gaps.

What we are looking for

• University degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or Bachelor's degree in automated production engineering;
• Membership in the OIQ;
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both French and English to support our anglophone clientele;
• Technical skills in controls (hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical) and mechanics;
• Knowledge and skills in graphical interface and "PLC" programming (Allen Bradley and others);
• Knowledge and skills in computer science (Microsoft Office and AutoCad);
• Skills in understanding and resolving technical and human problems;
• Ability to work in a team and represent the company and manage its budgets.
