Daily Worker/Operator

Under the authority of the Director of Public Works, the Daily Worker/Operator is responsible for performing work related to the general maintenance of municipal infrastructure and snow removal, which requires the operation of vehicles and machinery.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform work related to the maintenance of the road network (loading, bulk transport, spreading, leveling and compaction)
• Perform work related to the maintenance of the water supply and sewer network (leaks, valves, connections, water meters)
• Perform snow removal, de-icing, spreading of abrasives, and snow transport work
• Perform general maintenance work of municipal buildings
• Drive and operate various vehicles and machinery (10-wheel truck, snowplow, backhoe, tractor)
• Ensure that vehicles and machinery comply with the rules prescribed by the SAAQ
• Responsible for the proper functioning, mechanics and cleanliness of vehicles and machinery
• Perform some mechanical maintenance work
• Immediately inform your supervisor of any defect
• Take all necessary safety measures during work and travel by applying safe work methods according to the applicable prevention program
• Inform your supervisor of the progress of the work and activities as well as any incidents and problems that occur
• Provide week-long guard service by rotation according to established procedures
• Promote and maintain good relations with all stakeholders, including employees, management, elected officials, suppliers, citizens, etc.
• Perform any other tasks requested by your supervisor

REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED PROFILE

• High school diploma (DES)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an operator/driver in a municipality an asset
• Valid Class 3 driver's license
• Health and safety course certificate for construction sites an asset
• Very good manual skills and be in good physical condition
• Resourceful, versatile and responsible
• Work in a team and interact with the public appropriately
• Be ready to work outside regular hours
• Salary: $25.51 to $30.48 per hour
• Scheduled hours: 40.0 per week
