Clinical Nurse

The UP Centre is a innovative model of pediatric emergency care and specialized community care focused on family needs and delivered by a multidisciplinary team, all supported by a wireless, mobile, and paperless information system.

Practicing at the UP Centre will draw on the entirety of your technical expertise and skills with active participation in a wide variety of pediatric emergencies and specialized care:

• Acute respiratory emergencies: treatment of asthma/croup/bronchiolitis with inhalo-therapy (nebulization/suction)
• Injuries: wound and burn care, repair of lacerations, casting/splinting for fractures
• Sedation: complex procedures with conscious sedation using nitrous oxide
• Outpatient care: pediatric blood draws, urinary catheterization, capillary blood gas analysis, IV line placement, IV/IM antibiotic treatment

Being an UP’str nurse is

• Assessing, triaging, and *caring for children and their families* upon arrival in the emergency department
• Identifying children who require immediate interventions and initiating care at the door *applying advanced nursing practices* with collective orders
• Being part of a *multidisciplinary team* that highlights the RN-MD duo
• Leading and participating in *continuous improvement projects* and academic programs
• *Mentoring, supervising, and training* university nursing students
• Developing your skills through our *ongoing training programs and weekly accredited interdisciplinary simulations* and no longer having to rely on other sources to fulfill your OIIQ obligations
