About the Position
We are seeking a person to fill the position of Contracts and Procurement Advisor for major projects, to help the SD&T Project Services team implement procurement strategies that support the delivery of value-creating projects.
Based in the Saguenay region, Quebec, this person will provide strategic and operational support to the Contracts and Procurement team. They will contribute to the development and implementation of procurement and contract management strategies, while supporting project teams and contract administrators in the execution of their activities.
Reporting to the Contracts and Procurement Manager, this opportunity is for a person who enjoys transforming complex project needs into concrete commercial solutions and who wishes to influence decisions that favor optimal value for Rio Tinto.
What You Will Do
- Contribute to the development and implementation of contract and procurement strategies for major projects, by formulating analyses and recommendations for project teams and management.
- Advise project teams and contract administrators on procurement, contract management, commercial negotiation, and risk management.
- Participate in tendering, submission evaluation, and commercial negotiations to ensure alignment with project objectives and Rio Tinto's requirements.
- Lead and coordinate daily contract and procurement activities for projects under your responsibility, in accordance with approved strategies, schedules, and priorities.
- Support the contract administration team in the rigorous application of processes, tools, standards, and governance requirements of SD&T.
- Monitor the progress of activities, identify issues and potential risks, and recommend mitigation measures to achieve project objectives.

Requirements for Success
- Commitment to your safety and that of your team.
- Extensive experience in procurement and contract management within major or complex construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience in tendering, submission evaluation, commercial negotiation, and contract risk management.
- Ability to analyze complex issues, formulate clear recommendations, and implement solutions in an environment where priorities evolve rapidly.
- Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative relationships with project teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to support the execution of construction projects.
- Proficiency in both French and English, both spoken and written, required to collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers in both languages.
Success Factors
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in guiding or supporting contract administrators in the execution of contractual and procurement activities.
- Comfort in working autonomously, taking initiatives, and communicating analyses or recommendations to different levels of the organization.
