We are looking for a: Maintenance Supervisor Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Maintenance, the Maintenance Supervisor ensures the strategic orientation of maintenance and promotes excellence in all maintenance activities within a complex manufacturing plant or large manufacturing facility. The incumbent supervises daily maintenance activities, including timely fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and problem-solving for performance issues. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures the safety of activities, achievement of results and key objectives, as well as effective leadership of the workforce, while targeting and directing continuous improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * Collaborate in planning, prioritizing, and tracking maintenance activities to ensure optimal plant operation; * Exercise leadership to improve health and safety performance at work by setting an example for safety and demonstrating reasonable diligence in applying elements of Formica's health and safety program; * Supervise staff by providing work instructions, performance feedback, and recommendations for training and development. Promote a positive employer-union relationship and ensure compliance with company rules and legal obligations arising from the collective agreement, as well as various regulations and laws; * Monitor contractors and ensure they follow plant procedures and contractual requirements, including those related to equipment installation, modifications, and maintenance. Ensure all relevant activities are carried out in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, manufacturing best practice guidelines, and Formica standards; * Achieve superior operational performance by identifying opportunities and implementing cost and activity improvements in the plant. Troubleshoot equipment performance issues and implement effective corrective measures in a timely manner. Ensure the efficient execution of maintenance and preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate unexpected equipment breakdown repairs, including labor, materials, and time required, then follow up to ensure work is completed to standards; * Facilitate communication between production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure resources are used effectively, problems are resolved promptly, responsible managers are consulted or kept informed of appropriate activities, and required approvals are obtained under plant process and procurement modification policies; * Support budget management by monitoring expenses against the budget.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: College or university diploma, or equivalent certificate from a trade school; * Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a maintenance supervisor in a plant within a unionized environment, preferably; * Three (3) years of related experience in the fields of electricity, control systems, or mechanics; * Experience in implementing preventive maintenance systems and managing maintenance budgets according to an established operating plan; * Proven leadership, problem-solving, and team-building skills; ability to lead and supervise a team of specialized tradespeople; * Proficiency in office tools, including Microsoft Office suite, as well as database and management systems. * Knowledge and experience with GMAO software and specifically EAM, including work plans and purchase orders; * Knowledge of English is an asset for the position. * We thank all candidates for their applications, but we will only communicate with those selected for an interview.
