Nurse - Clinical Liaison Nurse - Grand North

The Inuulitsivik Health Centre (CSI) is dedicated to providing quality health and social services to the Nunavimmiut living in the seven communities along the coast of Hudson Bay. To contribute to our mission, we are currently seeking a Nurse/Clinical Liaison Nurse.

Employment Conditions – Nurse/Clinical Liaison Nurse – Grand North (Villages along the coast of Hudson Bay)

Salary:

• Nurse salary between 29.61$ and 47.48$ per hour according to experience
• Clinical Nurse salary between 31.06$ and 55.04$ per hour according to experience

Arctic and Other Employment Conditions

• Remote allowance (without dependents) between 233.63$ and 275.60$ per week according to the village
• Remote allowance (with dependents) between 411.84$ and 485.88$ per week according to the village
• Retention allowance between 449.54$ and 545.90$ per week according to the village and seniority
• Cost of living allowance: between 58.40$ and 188.72$ per week according to the village
• Clinic allowance if applicable: 228$ per week

Opportunity – Nurse/Clinical Liaison Nurse – Grand North (Villages along the coast of Hudson Bay)

• Part-time temporary position
• Minimum 16 weeks in the north per year

Main Responsibilities – Nurse/Clinical Liaison Nurse – Grand North (Villages along the coast of Hudson Bay)

General Tasks:

• Ensure the drafting or revision of internal policies and procedures for liaison activities to specialized services;
• Maximize the mobilization and use of Arctic resources instead of southern resources;
• Organize transportation services while ensuring the continuity of care, patient safety, oxygen, medications, medical supplies, and necessary equipment;
• Evaluate the client's needs in collaboration with the client
• Mobilize and direct resources to ensure the continuity of care when necessary for users under your responsibility
• Coordinate the work of the multidisciplinary team for efficient care management and safe leave planning following hospitalization in connection with a procedure.
• Ensure that patient documentation and information is well available and archived to facilitate the continuity of care by the appropriate resources;
• Encourage patient autonomy;
• Produce accurate and relevant statistics for the actions taken daily. Forward these statistics once a week to the professional services coordination.
• Participate in the welcome and orientation of new staff;
• Produce a service report upon departure for vacation and ensure the continuity of service with the replacement.
• Specialized Services:
• Scan consultation documents to the administrative agent of specialized services.
• In gastro, check if patients have allergies, take anticoagulants, or are diabetic.
• Following the consultation with the specialist for surgery, perform the required pre-op treatments. (Echo, labs…)
• Prepare clinics.
• Ensure that waiting lists are up to date
• Participate in the development of telehealth in partnership with our specialists.
• When possible, travel to the village to accompany certain specialists.
• Work in collaboration with the liaison nurses of the villages.
• Follow up on laboratory and pathology results with the requesting physician, implement the requested specialist follow-up or intervention, and inform the village of the treatment plan.
• Obtain the current list of medications for patients
• Validate if the exams requested in the South are done pre-consultation (Echo, scan, MRI, ECG, labs, audio…)
• Make requests for RAMQ extensions when necessary.
• Assist in requests for curatorships.
• Assist the floor nursing team by filling in the needs (consultations, pre-post-op, recovery room)
• Check if patients are on the TMS and if an airfare has been made.

Education Requirements

• Possession of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• or
• Bachelor's degree counting three (3) admissible certificates, including at least two (2) certificates recognized in nursing care

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years in the Arctic environment
• Minimum of 5 years as a nurse

Other Requirements

• Member in good standing of the Order of Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of Quebec
• Essential bilingualism (French and English) both orally and in writing. Inuktitut considered an asset.
• Ability to communicate and work within a multicultural team
• Respect for Inuit culture and traditions.
• Excellent facility for maintaining positive interpersonal relationships and communication skills are essential for this position.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Current RCR certification
