**Job Description: Mobile Equipment Maintenance Technician (Bilingual in French and English)

  • The candidate must be based within a 25KM radius of Quebec City and be bilingual in French and English
  • The technician must have a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean record as a company vehicle will be provided with related expenses covered. The technician will work both alone and in teams. They may need to supervise an assistant depending on the scope of the work. The technician will need to travel once a week to cover our clientele across the province. The primary territory to cover will be the eastern part of the province
  • Must be an early riser and punctual. Most of our work starts as early as 5:30AM
  • This position requires good autonomy and excellent communication with clients and colleagues. The technician will be responsible for the daily maintenance activities of our clients' equipment. The sought-after candidate has skills allowing them to follow a rigorous work framework and a flexible schedule to carry out various maintenance tasks, both preventive and corrective, requiring the use of manual and electrical/electronic tools
  • The candidate must be comfortable using the basic functions of a smartphone to manage work orders and tasks on their device
  • The technician will perform repairs on small electric motorized equipment including; grocery carts, cart recovery systems, and smart grocery cart technologies
  • The technician will also perform inspections, servicing, and repairs on grocery carts and various types of mobile equipment used by staff at our clients
  • The technician will be responsible for diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and electronic problems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of cart systems in retail environments

Main Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electromechanical equipment and systems for grocery carts
  • Perform preventive maintenance on motorized tri-wheeled carts, push carts, cart escalators, and cart recovery systems
  • Repair and replace electrical components, including motors, batteries, wiring, switches, relays, and control systems
  • Repair and replace mechanical parts such as wheels, brakes, frames, steering systems, and drive mechanisms
  • Test and calibrate equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards
  • Perform routine inspections and document maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and company procedures
  • Communicate with store management regarding the condition of equipment and repair deadlines
  • Support the planning and execution of daily maintenance tasks
  • Participate in the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance programs
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies
  • Ensure the performance of equipment and report issues to senior supervisors
  • Master the reading of schematics, plans, and basic manuals
  • Keep maintenance records, reports, and documents up to date
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and tools
  • Participate in the training and integration of new technicians

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in electromechanics (an asset)
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in maintenance or industrial settings
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, motors, sensors, and mechanical components
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) (an asset)
