The position is within our Global Markets IT department. The Global Markets IT (GMI) department manages the global information system across the entire value chain of capital markets enterprises. The GMI teams are primarily located in Paris, London, New York, Montreal, Hong Kong, India, and Singapore.
We are looking for a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to join the team in Montreal. This position aims to deploy, support, and enhance the Equity platform in the Americas and ensure the best possible digital experience for our transactions, sales, and operations in the Americas, as well as globally. The selected candidate will therefore contribute to the broader digital transformation agenda while strengthening the security and resilience of the existing platform.
Key Responsibilities
Trading and Client Service Quality Guardian: Collaborate closely with FO Trading in New York to understand workflows and potential future needs in terms of features and SLAs.
Production Control Tower: Ensure that adequate instrumentation is in place, easily accessible, and understandable for daily platform monitoring as well as for ad-hoc prospective analysis.
Technical Advisor: Perform periodic tests and analyses on the platform to understand recurring or potentially upcoming bottlenecks. Formalize proposals to address identified issues by refactoring algorithms, redesigning building blocks, or resizing infrastructure.
DevOps Engineer: Utilize the existing inner-sourcing framework to collaborate or self-implement suggested changes, when deemed appropriate and possible.
Agility Facilitator: Actively contribute to the security and efficiency of the CI/CD pipeline as a critical factor in production stability and problem resolution efficiency.
Strategic Thinker: Work closely with the Asian and global service teams to continuously foster technical and organizational excellence.
Technological Evangelist: Integrate AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot into all aspects of your daily work to improve development speed, business security, and delivery quality.
Education and Experience
- Computer Science degree (preferred)
- 5 years of experience in development, support, or SRE in IT within the financial industry
- Financial Knowledge
- Equity business and financial markets knowledge
- Understanding of end-to-end equity workflows
- Basic knowledge of instruments (stocks, indices, options, futures, swaps)
- Nice to have: P&L and VaR concepts
- Technical Skills
- SQL and NoSQL
- Windows Server environments (services, IIS, scheduled tasks)
- UNIX/Linux (navigation, shell scripts, Perl)
- SQL databases (query writing, stored procedures, query optimization)
- Batch systems (Control-M)
- Monitoring systems (ITRS Geneos, ELK)
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible)
- Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- GitHub Copilot, Jira

- Communication and Skills
