The Senior Transmission Lines Engineer role can be based in one of our power delivery teams located in our Ontario or Quebec offices.

This transition requires major expansion of the electricity transmission network. In this high-level role, you will leverage WSP’s recognized expertise, experience and innovation to support our clients, public services and communities in this transformation towards a new energy future.
Your Impact
- Lead the technical aspects of transmission line design projects (34.5 kV to 500 kV), including new lines, relocations, reconstructions, modernizations, structure replacements, and fiber optic additions.
- Prepare and review design deliverables, including plans and profiles, material selection, and construction estimates.
- Perform quality reviews of internally produced and subcontractor deliverables.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects while adhering to budgets and schedules.
- Evaluate technical options, criteria, and alignments to optimize design.
- Apply high-voltage transmission line construction standards.
- Coordinate activities with contractors and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction.
- Serve as the project’s technical lead and maintain strong client relationships.
- Manage project reports, billing, accounts receivable, and unbilled work.
- Develop and monitor the scope of work, schedules, and budgets in accordance with plans and contracts.
- Ensure compliance with budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client and the project team and understand client priorities.
- Proactively identify challenges and implement solutions to ensure project success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members.
- Travel as needed to client offices, job sites, or supplier locations.
- Support business development activities and participate in proposal preparation.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (B. Eng.), mechanical engineering (B. Eng.), or electrical engineering (B. Eng.) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in transmission line design, including high-voltage and extra-high-voltage overhead line design, alignment selection, line and structure layout, structure design and analysis, and construction bid package preparation.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite software.
- Experience in project engineering or project management within multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
- Professional engineering designation ( P.Eng. / Ing. ) required.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project is a plus.
- Knowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects, and line construction is a plus.
- Experience in distribution network design or subconstruction is a plus.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.

- C.-B., Alb., Sask., T.N.-O. and Nunavut : 114,600 $ to 151,800 $
- Manitoba and Ontario : 104,500 $ to 143,900 $
- Atlantic Provinces and Quebec : 103,500 $ to 137,400 $
